“Little place...but worth it, if visiting Montpelier is on your ajenda.”

Small local 'museum' ...not a primary destination. Visit if you have time...but do not miss James & Dolly Madison's now restored "Montpelier" ..... if traveling any where near Charlottesville, VA [Jefferson's Monticello].

Learned a lot about Munroe's connections to Williamsburg as a young man. A true statesman and patriot. Wonderful collection of furnishings and memorabilia. Informative guides.Very small gift shop.

We enjoyed a brief tour by a very informative lady. There is alot to read but not much to actually see. Monroe did not actually have his law office here. We enjoyed learning more about our fifth president as he was very important in many aspects of our history, including the Louisiana Purchase

This museum and home is small, but it's very nicely done. It's operated by the University of Mary Washington. I visited with our local DAR chapter and we got a tour by the museum curator, which was excellent. The furniture and portraits of the Monroes are very, very nice. Well worth a visit.
