Greatly enjoyed our stay... Staff very helpful!... Especially tony! Room great and outside porches relaxing. Would agree with others to have smoking someplace else .... Breakfast yummy but agree eggs fake. We booked 1st Alaska school day trip though tony at Regency and they provide excellent service!

Stayed: June 2014

The Regency is conveniently located in town, just off the Steese Highway at 10th. It's a large place, compared to the more primitive accommodations I experienced earlier in our trip, and has a big restaurant downstairs where the complimentary breakfast is served. The en suite bathroom, with bottles of shampoo and lotion, nice wrapped soap bars, a good supply of soft towels, and a good hot shower in a bathtub seemed like the height of luxury. Our room for two had two double beds, a big flat screen TV, and (most appreciated) a big table on which we could spread out and organize all our stuff. The staff is helpful and relaxed, charging nothing for the key card I lost on the Riverboat Discovery and waving it off as nothing to get stressed about. The lady in charge of the breakfast room was very nice and accommodating (you need a voucher to get in). There were several choices on the breakfast buffet, eggs and a good selection of bagels, English muffins with turkey bacon and round egg-like patties to make a sandwich, coffee and juice and packets of instant cocoa and oatmeal. But the fruit was so-so, barely edible from my point of view, which was disappointing since fruit is the mainstay of my breakfasts. This is a small point, though.

We stayed there on the last night of our Alaska trip. It is an older hotel, but clean and efficient. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. They provided a free shuttle to the airport. The food in their restaurant was fine. Breakfast was included in the cost of the room.

We arrived in Fairbanks just before midnight. It was still daylight outside, but the town had closed up for the night. We had a reservation for the Regency Fairbanks Hotel and they had our reservation when we arrived. Check-in was smooth and efficient. The lady at the counter told us that not many places were open in which to eat, but she did recommend a pizza place down the street and around the corner. The room was super clean, large and had a great view of the outside. It was interesting to watch the sun set around 12:45 A.M. and see the beginnings of sun rise at the same time. The beds were very very comfortable and the bathroom was spotless. The continental breakfast the next morning was downstairs at the resetaurant and the food was good. This was a very enjoyable stay for us.

Room Tip: Get a room on a upper level with a front facing.

The good - staff was friendly and helpful. Nice sitting area in the lobby. The bad - room was dark and shabby. Frayed chair and holes in the curtains. Not enough light fixtures for the size of the room. I could not see what was in my suitcase. Breakfast was inedible. Fake eggs, fake bacon, and not much of a choice of other items. Overall, depressing end to my Alaska adventure. I gave it a 2 because I liked the people working there. Else it is a 0.

Easy access off the Steese Hwy from either direction. Complimentary hot breakfast included. No pastries. The fancy toaster was tricky to use. Waffles were good. Eggs were a bit odd. Lots of nice bacon. Older hotel, but utilitarian and satisfactory. Needs a few more lights in the room, but since it was summer, it was okay. I think it would be pretty dim in the winter.

Room Tip: It was nice to have a fridge, coffee pot, microwave in the room. We did not use the iron and board...
