“We liked the Chalet concept.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 June 2014 via mobile

The resort consists of a number of chalets, adjacent to a central administrative and dining area.
The chalets are self-contained, clean and comfortable, and give a sense of increased privacy.
One little annoyance was that I could not pick up the WiFi in the chalet, but got good reception in the lobby. There was also a free business computer that we used to check online flight details, and a printer to produce boarding pass.

We arrived late in the evening for a long flight. When we pulled up all these cute cottages very neatly arranged and clean as you could get. From the outside they look a little small, but that is deceiving. Our cottage #24 had 2 double beds and like new inside and out .The inside is well decorated and very clean. Nice bathroom tub/shower. Out front is a nice little patio with table and chair. and even the table out front was clean as could be. There was a lot of hanging flowers all over the property. The grounds where very well maintained and we liked it a lot and will return again. We where there in late May.

Across the drive way is the main lobby and hotel part and we ate breakfast in the dinning room .
They offered a nice Buffet for $12.95 or a continental for $7.95. The hotel was built some years ago but designed to have the old Hotel look inside and Great old pictures of the city of Fairbanks. The whole resort is on the Chena River.

Room Tip: Some of the Cottages face the River and Some face inside the grounds. I don't thing your could...

Myself and 2 friends stayed here for 2 nights in May. At first glance when we drove in it looked quiet and basic but after checking around we came back and were very happy with our stay. We had 2 riverside cabins which were clean, spacious and quiet. The staff were really lovely, gift shop reasonably priced and a good variety and the local restaurant had excellent food (ate both nights there) and were very happy.
Nice to sit on a patio beside the river outside your cabin and watch everyone go by in their boats.

We were lucky to get a room (as with everywhere we stayed on our trip during the summer). The cottage was clean and very cozy! We had a patio with furniture right on the Chena River. We sat outside and just relaxed watching the water. The whole site was very well maintained with flower baskets everywhere. The Resort restaurant was very busy- with good service and good food!

We traveled to Alaska in early Sept and stayed here for 2 nights and we were very pleased with the resort. We had 1 of the cabins and it was a good size .very clean and beautiful flower baskets hanging from each cabin. There was a nice small patio looking out toward the river which. we didn't get to use it as we had rain. The staff was very helpful and nice. We had booked a tour to go to the Artic Circle at 6 AM and the tour company has an agreement with Rivers Edge to pick you up and return you there at no charge which was great. We had dinner at the adjacent restaurant and it was good, Our last morning we had the breakfast buffet in the lodge and it was a good size buffet and quite good. Hopefully we will get back to Alaska ans we definitely would stay at Rivers Edge

We were assigned a room (cottage) here as part of our Alaska Grand Tour with Discovery Voyages. Considering its location in the city, we found the buildings and grounds well maintained and attractive. The separate cabins were placed in the midst of a well manicured lawn and along side a beautiful stream. Meals at the nearby restaurant were basic but filling. Breakfast was a buffet similar to the better free offerings elsewhere. Overall, we were pleased with the staff and accommodations. Everything in Alaska must be compared with other local similar facilities, not the southern 48.

Room Tip: Some cabins are near the river and some near the parking lot. The neighborhood is semi-rural so any...

The Resort is unique in that the accommodation is in separate cabins. These are roomy and well presented and our cabin did open out to the river. Being there in September with overcast skies did not allow a good viewing of the northern lights though there were a few pleasant evenings where we sat and ate take-away at the outdoor table, accompanied by a few ducks and other bird life. The occasional boat passing on the river was also pleasing. The one disadvantage was the distance from anywhere. Being on a part organised tour, we organised a rental car for of 2 of the 5 days we were there. The 2 days we had free were handicapped in that there was no resort transport to other than the train or airport and, being about 2 miles from anywhere, this was a disadvantage. We were able to walk to a nearby Fred Meyer (about 3/4 mile) which did provide reasonable scenery.

Room Tip: With all separate cabins, they are similar quality but it is better to have a cabin that fronts the...

An afternoon on a sunny riverbank exemplifies the best of Interior Alaska; this place is built around that knowledge. Trim little cottages stand in a grassy compound along the gentle Chena River.
