What a relaxing weekend in Fairbanks while staying at the Rivers Edge resort. Whenever traveling to Fairbanks, we always try to book our stay at the Rivers Edge Resort, and our trip this weekend, the Tanana Valley State Fair weekend, was no exception. We were able to stay in one of the cottages on the river and just love to sit out on the patio just outside our room watching the river meander by. There was plenty to see this weekend as rafters, kayakers, and canoer's traveled by enjoying the river and awesome sunshine we had all weekend. The rooms are larger than most hotel rooms and what I consider to be as the right size for two people. Our room was immaculately clean, and because we were in a cottage, quiet without worry of adjacent room noise. There is no refrigerator or microwave in our cottage, and was not a problem on this trip but if staying longer than a weekend, I could see where a refrigerator could be handy for snacks and leftovers. Overall, I could not ask for better, it was once again, relaxation with flare!

Room Tip: Grab a room on the rivers edge if available!

TERRIBLE WiFi ! Tom the GM should look into this. Unless you are sitting in the lobby, you get no coverage. The poor desk clerks were getting call after call with complaints about it. They remained very courteous though. Great individual little cottages...just basic though. Stayed 2 nights. Very good restaurant available & they kept it open later for the group that had just arrived.

We spent two nights here unwinding from our flight from the east coast. We took one of the cottages on the river and were pleasantly surprised to find a patio with chairs outside our room. Great relaxation. The rooms were just about the right size for two people and very well maintained. The Lodge offers a Fairbanks tour of the city and museums. There's a charge, but it's cheaper than the admission fees. Our guide was a local and told many interesting tales as we saw the city. Other folks have mentioned the personal service; we stayed longer than planned at the Museum and the resort offered to pick us up when we were done. The driver went out of his way to take us to a restaurant that was open for a late lunch. There's WiFi in the main lodge and spotty coverage elsewhere, but they are working on improving it. All in all a great place to stay.

Room Tip: As others have said, the river cottages are great. You might want to avoid the cottages next to the...

We participated in the city tour offered by the hotel. Our tour guide, Gayle, was outstanding! She has a genuine interest in people and presented the information with the enthusiasm as though it was her first tour. ( All tour guides for the remainder of our 3 weeks were pale in her comparison!).
I highly recommend this vacation spot - relaxing and comfortable. (watch for Gayle, she will make your day more pleasant)

Room Tip: rooms are in individual cabins. Ask for cabin by river - fun to watch boaters.

This is one of the best hotels I have stayed in. Very clean. Staff went out of their way to accommodate needs. Stayed there twice; once in a cottage and once in a hotel room. Cottage is great; feels very private. Room was very spacious. Will stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone traveling to Fairbanks.

Room Tip: They have rooms and cottages. Opt for a cottage.

Arrived by train with shuttle bus waiting at the door. Arrived to find that the ground handler had not made a reservation for us (2 persons, travelling independently). The staff could not have been more helpful in resolving the problem and made a cottage available within half an hour after being vacated. They contacted the ground handler and resolved the problem and were apologetic to us although it was not any fault of Rivers Edge Resort. The cottages are superb, being clean and very comfortable with beautiful gardens and fantastic hanging baskets throughout the site. The river walk leads to a well appointed restaurant and deck overlooking the river - a perfect destination to relax.

Room Tip: All cottages are detached and have small patio with table and chairs.

Having travelled from the UK on a three week motoring tour of the Yukon and Eastern Alaska you need a bit of R&R, and for us this was ideal. We had pre-booked a 'cabin' on the riverbank, which in fact we would call a chalet (not the Swiss type!). It was a good sized room with a seating area outside the rear patio sliding doors. The reception staff were genuinely welcoming and pottered off to make us coffee whilst the room was checked for us. (We arrived before the check in time.) We had a two night stay and throughly enjoyed the experience. For those that like a walk it is well situated for nearby Pike's Landing which is an excellent alternative to the in-house Chena's restaurant. If you are one who likes privacy then the riverside walk might not sit too well with you as a steady stream of passer's by either head up or down the riverbank adjacent to the detached riverside cabins.
Others have mentioned the breakfast, which given the cost of the Resort should, I feel, be inclusive in the price. That said there are plenty on excellent breakfast outlets just a short drive away. The inhouse restaurant was very good but can get busy in the evenings and the best tables are located on the veranda facing the river and seemed very popular with customers, so it is advisable to make an early reservation and state your preference or you might be disappointed. Altought noise from the adjacent highway bridge was said to be a negative comment on a review read before our booking, we found it not to be the case. The same could not be said for the river jet-skies, that powered up and down in the early evening from the nearby rental centre. But all in all we left rested and refreshed. A good stay.

Room Tip: Riverside cabins provide the dearer, but better, option.
