Was really looking foward to staying here in a very interesting building and meeting the couple who claim to run it. Instead Suzie was no-where to be seen and the very elderly parents of Sean were trying to keep it up. Way too much work for them to do alone & it shows...They were VERY nice to talk to, but our Lakeview Suite smelled of "dog & urine". The kitchen looked like it needed a good scrubbing, and the rest of the place needed to be de-cluttered & cleaned also. Breakfast consisted of juice, melon, unlimited pancakes and one small sausage. Even though things turned out OK, i would not return here. I am not happy about giving it a negative review , as they were very nice folk, but I also feel that when you spend hard earned money on vacation you want a nice clean place stay also. They just need some extra help to get things back in order & looking like their website.

The hosts are wonderful and environmentally conscious. The building is a 4 story log structure hand built by the owner. It is situated about 5 minutes from the University of Alaska and 15 minutes from downtown Fairbanks. It is nestled in a charming spruce forest with a view of a pond. Moose and wildlife can often be seen. The rooms are beautiful and filled with antiques (but comfy). The top of the sturcture is crowned with an "aurorium". In the winter you can view the aurora borealis (when it is out) from above the tree tops in a warm space. We love visiting Sean and Suzi (we've been there often).
