Owner description: Thousands of visitors each year get a chance to see muskoxen, caribou and domestic reindeer on summer tours of this 134-acre site set up for nutritional, behavioral and physiological study by the University of Alaska.

The university's viewing station is a unique insight into the world of the musk ox. There are two large fields where they roam--sometimes close to the fence, but most often further away. Bring binoculars, but also be sure to look in the woods to the northwest of the parking lot or hike the trail to the east of the fields. Sometimes you can find the musk oxen or a few caribou wandering in these areas. Fascinating animals...

This is another spot for the summer visitor. You can see musk ox, reindeer, and other animals of the north country. Sometimes they are close to the parking area, but sometimes are quite distant. Take binoculars if you have them.

We enjoyed a chance to see Kiwi, the musk ox and the caribou. Our tour guide was most informative. It was a great opportunity to learn more about the wildlife of the north

This is a chance to see caribou & musk oxen up close for an Alaskan experience. There is some walking on gravel which may be a problem for some. Our guide Pam was very knowledgeable & answered everyone's questions very well.
