Stayed here for 3 nights while in town for a friend's wedding. We had a room in the Copper Lodge which is a second building located off to the right of the parking lot. No river view, but the room was large with a comfortable bed, air conditioner, and a small fridge. Our room was very clean, and although Pike's is only about a mile from the airport, we never once heard any planes when our balcony door was closed.

Every single staff member we encountered here was friendly and helpful, including the shuttle drivers. I'm not sure if all of the hotels in Fairbanks have shuttles, but let me tell you, it was a great service to have available. We were picked up from the airport via shuttle, and also used it to get to and from some nearby attractions. It doesn't really go past downtown Fairbanks so you may need a rental car depending on your itinerary, but the shuttle was a great option for nearby destinations.

Overall, a great choice in Fairbanks.

We had a good stay at Pike's Waterfront Lodge staying in a cabin right on the river. The cabin was air conditioned (not always a given in Alaska) and featured a small living room, bedroom, and medium size bathroom. There was also a nice patio with table and chairs overlooking the river. All the staff here were very friendly and the location is excellent (just minutes from the airport and Riverboat Discovery. We used an Alaska Toursaver two for one coupon so I found this to be a great value. We didn't get a chance to dine here although the menus looked good but a bit pricey.

My husband and I travelling from England, stayed here during our tour of the Yukon and Alaska, it is a very nice hotel, lots of stuffed animals in reception and a small gift shop. We had a largish room overlooking the Chena River which gave us a pleasant view, pity that the balcony was only big enough to stand on. The room had a king sized bed, sofa and chair and a flame effect gas fire which I can imagine looks lovely in the winter months and decent curtains to block out the “midnight sun” if required and the usual coffee/tea hairdryer. The down side was that the restaurant was not open at all so could not eat (apart from buffet breakfast) in the hotel, however Pikes Landing is literally across the parking lot and the food there is not bad. It was very busy for the whole 3 days we were there so sometimes getting a table was difficult, especially I think, because there is no air conditioning in the restaurant so nearly everyone was sitting outside. The only gripe is that there can be a lack of communication between the hotel and the Pikes Landing restaurant in regard to charging to your room. Upon arrival at the hotel we were told by the hotel reception that we did not need any type of authorization card to show at Pikes Landing to charge food/drink back to our room only our room number or room number card or key to show them, however it seemed that there was a lack of communication between the 2 places and each time we were asked for authorisation card we had to go through the whole “reception told us we only need to give room number or show you the room card” to be told “we cannot charge without authorisation and they know that” they then had to go and check, which was a bit of pain. When queried again with hotel reception and manager we were told that no card was necessary for hotel guests and that Pikes Landing staff know that!

Thank you for your kind comments on Pike’s. You stayed in my favorite room at the hotel! I apologize for the confusion on charging at Pike’s Landing. You were supposed to have a small printed paper card that authorizes your being able to charge there. Fortunately you alerted us to a training problem and we fixed it today with the front desk staff. I am sorry that this caused you walking back and forth and again am grateful that you pointed out this problem. Deborah

My husband and I were traveling to visit family north of Fairbanks. We used the AOPA directory to find a hotel as we had no internet service at our originating point of Lake Iliamna. We called another hotel and then Pike's. We decided on Pike's because the staff sounded very professional and Robert told us that they would be able to pick us up at the airport upon arrival.

Our driver, Fernando set the tone for a wonderful stay. When we arrived at the lodge we were overwhelmed by how pretty it was and how warm and welcoming the staff was. Upon check-in we were given wooden tokens for a free ice cream at their lobby ice cream stand. We arrived too late to eat dinner in the hotel but were given names of restaurants that would deliver. We were so tired that after we unpacked we just had ice cream. I think it was the best ice cream I've ever had! They make it in small batches and the flavors were fantastic.

After the ice cream we went to the gift shop. The lovely woman working there must have been psychic because she gave us complimentary microwave popcorn to make in our room. A perfect snack before bed to get us through to morning!

The room was great, the beds were comfortable and the hotel is trying hard to be eco-friendly. For example, they have solar panels on the roof to take advantage of Fairbanks' long summer days.

The breakfast buffet was extensive and delicious. Our driver in the morning, Dayna, was energetic and enthusiastic. She was a delight to meet.

Once we had internet and could look up reviews on Pike's we learned that it was ranked #2 in Fairbanks. That was good to know, but in our book it is number 1!

Front desk staff possessed little knowledge of local activities and events or things to do. Hotel staff was rude and disinterested when asked questions about local tourist attractions. After staying at hotel 4 nights, we were told we would have to switch hotels due to the hotel staffs poor booking techniques (we were us military personnel on official business and only needed to stay there one more night). During this process, one front desk worker (wearing a name tag that stated "princess") was very disrespectful and rude to us.

The rooms were small and cramped with furniture. The hotel is located next to the chena river and has a nice view.

If you are paying for a vacation to alaska, I recommended staying at a hotel that not only has a nice view, but has employees that care about your overall experience--pike's waterfront lodge is not one of those hotels!
