This lodge is spelled wrong as listed here - it's actually Chatanika Lodge. Everyone has written about the restaurant but I would like to comment on the lodge. I went there to see the lodge and what they had to offer for consideration for a future visit. You enter through the restaurant and walk to the back where there is a little alcove sitting area adjacent to a long hallway with the rooms. One men's bathroom and one women's bathroom in the center of the hallway to be shared by all rooms. The rooms are very small, perhaps a King size bed would fill the whole room. One room had a double bed and a twin perpendicular to each other which was the only way they both would fit. There is an old mine (closed) across the street and this was probably a brothel over 100 years ago as the sitting area and long hallway of rooms with only the shared bathroom would have been perfect for that. The place even calls itself a "saloon". After being shown the rooms, I would personally not want to stay here. Probably a perfect sleepover stop for local hunters. I was told that sometimes the entire "lodge" is filled with Japanese tourists who come to see the aurora borealis. Stop for a beer or some grub as you visit the area, it's the only place around and I was told that it's where all the locals come to drink in the winter (only watering hole around).
