“Generally good value, a few concerns”
Reviewed 5 December 2013

We spent 4 nights here. Like other reviewers, we found the room nicely furnished and with friendly helpful staff, convenient to subway and the eclectic Park Slope neighborhood shops and restaurants. We only give 3 stars because of two concerns. We asked for and were promised a room in back to get away from Third Ave. noise but found our room on the street on the fourth floor. As it happened, it was over Thanksgiving, so noise wasn't much of a problem, but it should have been handled better. Second, we had a king bed room that left minimal room for belongings. We know NYC rooms are small, we just think some rooms are too small for a king bed, so it wasn't as comfortable as it could have been.
On balance, though, the pros outweighed the cons.

Room Tip: Back rooms have less noise, upper front rooms have a nice view of lower Manhattan.

I will be perfectly honest and say we were so sure this would be bad, that we had a back up reservation. We were so happy to see the place was clean and nothing negative like some of the other reviews claimed.

Train station was few long blocks away and it was no problem getting around town. The area was a bit industrial but we felt safe at all time and hours.

Neighborhood is going through a rebirth with many new business opening up around old. I strongly suspect some of the negative comments, especially about illegal activity was a lie... in 6 days coming and going at all hours we saw nothing of the kind.

Staff was very helpful and always available.

Room was clean and everything looked new.

Breakfast was always fresh and well stocked.

We were traveling with a teen and would definetly stay here again.

TIP: if you don't mind walking, walk up (literally up hill) to 5th ave and turn right. There are many great resturants to have dinner at and the stroll around to all the shops.

I stayed here because of its low price and proximity to the (Bank Name Center) concert venue. It was relatively inexpensive, but the NY metro area is expensive. It was reasonably clean, reasonably priced and that's about it. Free parking was worth it. Not the worst place I've ever stayed, but far from the worst.

I stayed at the Super 8 in Gowanas, Brooklyn for two weeks this month. It's a good, clean and pleasant hotel. The price is right, the location good and the staff professional.

The only down side is the small parking lot.

All in all it was a good experience.
