We landed into NY a day late after being held up in LA due to Super Storm Sandy. After travelling for two days on my own with two toddlers, I could not have been more pleased to arrive at Carroll Gardens House, Sackett St. It was clean, roomy and the kids loved it. Jamie the owner makes every thing easy with all the information at your finger tips. She even arranged a babysitter for us.
The location near Smith St in Brooklyn was fabulous, near shops, restaurants, boutiques and parks. Our first trip to the US and the picturesque street was exactly as imagined it. Having a proper kitchen meant kids meals were easy, and most nights we stayed in. The kids had their own room and lots of space to play with toys and cause havoc!
We were there as the city began to take stock of it's tragic losses and damage after the storm. Then it was announced the marathon that we had travelled for had been cancelled - but I guess that meant I could enjoy a glass of red wine or two at our new favourite italian restaurant.
With Daddy arriving we got a chance to tour the Brooklyn and Manhattan, and wifi made him happy so he could keep up to date with work. Going for an early morning run around Central Park was still an amazing experience - even if it was a little shorter than a marathon.
We stayed for a 6 nights and plan to come back again maybe next year and try the experince again - hopefully without a super storm and maybe with friends.
Thanks Jamie for a fabulous stay.
