The Cyclone was down - a major attraction. It is relatively cheap compared to Disney etc. Can walk in, ride, go out to the beach etc. Maybe do it once, not again. Easy to get to on the subway.

Even if you are not a fan of park rides Luna Park is on the Ocean and there are a lot of things to see and do! The tickets for the rides vary but you can find discounts easily by searching online. The area has a good police force presence (at least during the day I have never been there at night) and feels very safe. Lots of food choices as you stroll down the pier or the street that runs along the ocean, You will hear lots of music from different ethnic groups as you stroll. There is a baseball field if your interest. Plenty of alcohol available just about everywhere ... $5.00 for a bottle of beer and plenty of stuff on tap. Bring your swimming suit and go for a dip in the ocean. There are plenty of showers to rinse off under. It's is informal and sunny so you might want to bring suntan lotion. Plenty of tourist stores. If you are there on a Saturday or Sunday and have kids I highly recommend you take them to the good old fashioned freak show ...inexpensive, great air conditioning and a fun show for kids of all ages. The aquarium is also right there.

Coney Island has a long history. It is getting back to it's hay day. Go to the beach in the morning and then spend the day riding and eating your way through Coney Island.

Visited to park as part of our day out to Coney. Spent most of the afternoon in the park and had great fun. Rather than buying a pass each we just bought the card which we could all use. It cost $100 but they topped it up to $140 so that was a great wee bonus. Whilst it didn't get us on everything it got us on everything we wanted to do, including the cyclone so well worth it. Good thing about the park is you can access it for free if your not riding any rides and have a look around.

My youngest son and I went out to Coney Island on the last day of our trip to NYC to see the Cyclone and its historical significance. He loves roller coasters and we wanted to give it a ride. Definitely would recommend buying the Luna Pass in advance online, as it saves you $20 per person. It was a nice time, as he and I always have fun together. The amusement park was kind of like a county fair by the beach. It was fun to eat at Nathan's and we had great weather. It's a 3-4 hour experience. We also rode the Subway out from Midtown Manhattan, the Broadway Express Q line takes about 50 minutes to get there, but it's only $3 each way. Glad we went but not sure if we'll go again.
