I see a lot of mixed reviews on here, but we were completely happy with our stay (4 nights). We were able to check in early ($35 fee, but worth it to not have to worry about the bags - although they did offer to hold them for free), and the room was just what we were expecting. We wanted to stay outside of Manhattan and found this to be perfect. It was quiet and nice, I liked the area, and it was about a 2min walk to the train.
I was happy to learn there was free breakfast -- nothing too fancy, but coffee, juice, bagels and pastries suited us just fine. The hot water seriously never seemed to run out (in my apt building this is not the case, haha), so showers were very comfortable.
We were staying on the 6th floor, so I was a little bummed when the elevator was out of service, but very pleasantly surprised when they fixed it in 1 day (on the weekend mind you). The staff was nice and helpful, and simply put, this is just what we wanted out of a place to stay in NY, outside of busy Manhattan.
I read some reviews about the area, and want to say that I never for a moment felt unsafe. If you don't know Brooklyn you may get the wrong idea, but this was not an unsafe neighborhood -- we even...I see a lot of mixed reviews on here, but we were completely happy with our stay (4 nights).
