When visiting New York, one of the main purposes is to find, in different ways, good restaurants. This time our plan was to have as excellent steaks as possible. We knew Peter Luger, so we had that kind of base for evaluation. We also knew that Amber Steakhouse should be good.
When walking there, the surroundings didn´t maybe look so inviting but after entering restaurant, everything seemed to be excellent. Staff was friendly and the interior was sophisticated. The national origin or roots at this restaurant might be Polish (or/ and Eastern Europe)? We didn´t know about the dress code wanted, but maybe you should have a little bit more elegant than wearing T-shirts and dirty jeans.
We ordered the Porter House for two persons (two kinds of fillet around T-form bone) and it was really good choice if thinking of our quest for excellent steaks. The size of this portion was enormous, so we really had to concentrate in eating. We had at least what we expected to have. One could say that at Amber Steakhouse you can eat at least as good steaks as Peter Luger offers but paying only one third.
