Certificate of Excellence

From the time we arrived to the time we left 6 days later everything was fantastic. We enjoyed the taxi service-using it many times during our stay. The staff has always there when we needed them; even at 3 in the morning when one of us had to leave for a personal issue and fly to California. If we return to New York we will stay here; and will recommend to everyone. This is the best hotel I have visited in a very long time. Nancy H.

Room Tip: Any room at this hotel would be great!

Loved, loved, loved this hotel. The rooms were beautifully decorated and the kitchenettes were perfect to make a quick breakfast in before we headed out for the day. Lots of nice little touches that made the stay perfect. The shuttle drivers were awesome and were always ready to take us to the train each morning. The morning shuttle guy that smelled like Polo was the nicest guy and so informative about things to do in the city and the parade. We will definitely stay here again. The only things I would change: one crabby, tall, thin black haired front desk person with the NY accent (smile dude and recognize when someone is waiting in line), and the only other thing is that I would ask the hotel to have recycling bins available somewhere.

Room Tip: Our loft suite was lovely and perfect for two teens and two adults

It would be a bonus if you recycled--but overall it was fantastic! The staff was very friendly and welcoming, etc. The rooms were very spacious, and it was especially nice to have a kitchen. Though we didn't use it, the shuttle service seemed very nice.

As a couple in the industry who have been managers at some of the finest hotels in North America over the past 18+ years, you are always looking for that new place that just says WOW! Well the Box House Hotel is that latest spot. We had to find a runaway spot to give our contractor an extra week for renovations and we were in Boston at the time. We have visited almost every major city on the continent except NYC so decided this was the best time. Looking into lodging options was overwhelming in a city of this size and we definitely did not want to be right in the middle of everything or pay that price. We discovered the Box on Tripadvisor and booked in for a week. From checkin right through the whole week it has been excellent. We are staying in their most 'basic' room, a loft room and it is perfect size for two people. Very comfortable bed in the loft area with adequate storage area for clothes, main floor has a nice bathroom with good tub and shower ( very short toilet however - haha), comfortable sofa with nice tv, well stocked kitchenette with all the basics you would need except a cutting board. The property is excellent and it's location is ideal if you like to stay in a cool upcoming neighbourhood with lots of great restaurants, small shops and easy walking. We could get downtown to Grand Central or Times Square with a 10 minute walk over the Pulaski Bridge and a 5 minute subway ride in on the 7 train. Williamsburg is a quick 5 minute ride away with the valet driven Checker Cab and you can explore so much there. But Greenpoint where we are at the north end of is so great. Places we recommend are Five Leaves, Paulie Gees, Eastern District for cheeses which is only a five minute walk away, Lobster Joint - all very good to excellent! This is not the place to stay if you want all the glitz and glamour and don't like to walk too much in your fancy shoes and clothes. But grab your comfy shoes, couple of layers of fleece and walk and walk - we would definitely return to the Box House, a rare find in the big city.

I work in New York and come up a few times a year. i normally stay in a Manhattan hotel near Central Park or my Sisters home in Greenpoint. I wanted to be closer to work and found this hotel , which was amazing . its is more of a small apartment , very roomy clean , great design. Beds and sofa very comfortable. I found myself very relaxed and felt like i was at home or at my sisters home .. did not feel like a hotel at all! the staff is amazing! all seems to very happy and very helpful.. They treat all their guest with a family kinda attutude.. this is very unusual for a hotel? i will stay there again !

Room Tip: I stayed on ground level in a handicap room . the bathroom was very large and roomy . now tub but i...

We stayed there-3 people ( my husband, my mother and myself) for 12 days and loved it!!!
At first we had a room that had a kitchen and was very nice ( and quite big). We went to Philadelphia for a night and came back to an upgraded amazing room! as big as our apartment!!!. The staff was so proffesional and helpful.
You can use the laudry room (the front desk will give you change-quarters if you have bills, for the machines. They also have a taxi service for free to the subway station.
If you decide to walk to the metro, I liked the way to the staion in brooklyn and not to line 7 in Queens.
I would stay there again next time I visit.

Just spent 3 nights there mid-week and had a great stay. The room was huge, the bed perfect. Location perfect in Greenpoint and everyone at the hotel was friendly and helpful. Very easy subway ride to Manhattan. Will stay here everytime I am in NY - room 3 x the size for 25% less than typical room in Manhattan.
