“A home away from home”

Susan&% Chalo were great, a home away from home, friendly, helpful & welcoming. The room was large, comfortable and having the bathroom in a separate adjacent room is great .
Commuting to Manhattan is easy ,and by the way, if you start to tour Brooklyn you won't arrive to Manhattan (MUST tour Williamsburg). The best pizza in NY & possibly ever is a walking distance ( Di Farra Pizza 1424 Avenue J, Brooklyn, NY 11230, expect a line).
Don't look anywhere else.

As a family ,before leaving to the US for a fortnight stay we wanted a place from which Manhattan could be at hand, where the train was at a short distance walk, and we found it, and many more..; Warm welcome, cosy atmosphere. Nothing compares to dekoven Court, it will soon be our fifth stay.
Just the best place to be.

Room Tip: Tout est parfait. Any room is just awsome

My husband and I stayed at Dekoven Suites for 4 days/3 nights this October 30 to November 2. We stayed in the Master bedroom with en suite bathroom and we will attest to previous reviews about the bed in this room. It is very, very comfortable. You will definitely get a great night's sleep in this bed. The room itself is warm, comfortable, clean, cozy, and well-appointed. The Master bedroom also affords you a great view of the tree-lined street which is so beautiful at this time of year with the change in the colors of the trees. The sound of autumn leaves rustling to the ground was so peaceful and relaxing.

Even before our arrival, I knew that we would enjoy our stay at Dekoven Suites and that we would feel welcomed by Susan and Chalo. I began communicating with Susan via email about five months before our trip with communications ranging from finalizing the details of our stay to friendly chats between two people on opposite sides of the continent checking in with one another in the months leading up to our trip and chatting as if they had already met one another. I always felt like I was talking to a friend. I also garnered from Susan's emails that she is a person who pays attention to detail. I just knew that I would like her. And, I tell you she has a sixth or maybe even a seventh sense because on more than one occasion I would think to myself that I need to send her an email and I'd logon and there would be an email from Susan. She has an invaluable knack for knowing when to reach out to her guests.

With the bumps that can sometimes occur when traveling, you can sometimes lose sight of the overall picture, especially after a long day/night of travel and arriving tired and hungry. Once we met Susan, having experienced her genuine concern for our well-being and her commitment to ensuring that we would enjoy a positive stay at their B&B, all of those bumps smoothed away. I must also point out that Susan and Chalo were very gracious in affording us the courtesy to arrive at their home in the wee hours of the morning after a long, red eye flight from CA.

Susan and Chalo are very easy to get along with and not once did we ever feel like we were imposing on them in their home. They went above and beyond to help us feel like their home was our home. We never felt like our comings and goings were being scrutinized. We enjoyed the freedom to explore Brooklyn and Manhattan at all different hours of the day/night with the peace of mind that we had a warm, clean, comfortable home to which to retire to each evening with hosts that were as excited as we were for the experiences that we were enjoying on our first trip to NYC. It was a wonderful feeling.

I could go on and on about how wonderful a time we had staying at Dekoven Suites, but I hope you get the idea. If you are looking for a place to stay with real people, in a true B&B that affords you the intimate experience to interact with your hosts, your fellow guests, and the staff which by the way are just as friendly and gracious as Susan and Chalo then you need to stay at Dekoven Suites. With the subway station being only 1.5 blocks from the home you can be anywhere you’d like within 20 to 30 minutes. The location of Dekoven Suites is not just convenient; it is in my opinion perfect!! I cannot imagine staying anywhere else should we have the good fortune to one day return to NYC. Oh… I almost forgot! Breakfast consists of an array of cereals, muffins, yogurt, fruit, sometimes pancakes, coffee, tea, juice…, all of the essentials to start your day off right.

Room Tip: Master bedroom with en suite bathroom has the most comfortable bed and a pretty view of the tree-lin...

The place is charming and well outfitted. If you're looking to get into Manhattan, it only takes about 5 minutes to walk to the subway and when you're on the train you get a great view of the Brooklyn Bridge. The hosts are very nice and can give you a lot of information about getting around and what to see.

Located in the fine neighborhood of Victorian Flatbush, Dekoven Suites was a lucky find!
We stayed at Dekoven for four nights in mid October, and were extremely pleased with everything. Susan gave us maps and tips for getting around by subway to Manhattan, and ideas for things to see in Brooklyn the first night. Chalo gently guided these tragically sheltered Southern Californians to brave the subway and walk around the neighborhood with confidence.
The bed (master suite) was very comfortable, everything clean and welcoming, breakfast was serve yourself but never lacking, and coming back in the evening was like coming home. The owners are friendly and accommodating, but not ever intrusive. It also has the best WiFi we have ever had away from home!
We are planning to return and stay longer next trip!

Room Tip: We had the master suite on the second floor, which has its own bathroom and privacy. It faces the st...

We stayed at Dekoven Suites in the Master Suite and found it to be very comfortable and pleasant. It's a short subway trip to Manhattan and in a very pleasant neighborhood. The subway is a five minute walk away. There is a supermarket and a big pharmacy right nearby as well. The hosts at Dekoven Suites are lovely people and very helpful. The breakfast is diverse and yum.

Room Tip: Go for the Master Bedroom as it has a very comfy private bathroom.

Susan and Chalo are naturals as B&B hosts. Make you feel welcome, comfortable and part of the extended family. House is excellent. Location is primo (in our case, two blocks from our daughter). What a bloody cool neighborhood!! There is nothing not to like about the whole Dekoven experience. Including Susan's garden. Stay there. You can't go wrong.
