“Great pizza!”
Reviewed 1 February 2013

We loved the pizza here. It has a nice chewy crust, not the typical thin NY crust, but it was delicious, and the toppings were great, as were the salads.

“Fair, But Not The Slope's Best 'Za”
Reviewed 31 December 2012

Brooklyn Central got great reviews from my friends so I gave it a shot. It's got a nice ambiance, though the location of the bathroom opening straight onto several of the tables wasn't a winner. The cool-looking oven in the rear, with its white-tile mosaic is a nice touch and the beer selections on tap were fine.

But let's get to the heart of the matter--the pizza. If Park Slope didn't already have some of the finest pizza in the world, IMHO, then BC's would be better than good--it would be very good. But the dough's a bit puffy and the bottom of the pie wasn't crisp--soggy on both pies we got. I think a bit more cooking on the bottom of the pie would improve things immensely, along with some tastier cheese offerings as toppings.

The best pizza remains that served at Toby's Public House, about 20 blocks away. For locals, Brooklyn Central is a good alternative--it's better than "average" hence my "very good" rating. But very good isn't outta this world, which is what Toby's is.

Pizza being a very personal thing in Brooklyn I'm sure this review is bound to attract critics. Fine. One man (and his wife's) opinion.
