Great cozy little Italian restaurant with authentic Italian pies and wonderful service. Highly recommended! The other menu items look good as well. Only downside was a limited beer selection, but come for the food.

Sure, the coal fired oven pizza at Table 87 on Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn is right up there with Grimaldi's , but this cozy and comfortable storefront near the river offers way more than that. The dining room in the back is a hidden gem, offering excellent traditional Italian fare cooked to perfection right before your eyes [ the kitchen is wide open and you can chat with the chef]. The usual chalk board offerings include linguine with clam sauce, penne a la vodka [ wonderful] , chicken marsala [ even more wonderful], rigatoni bolognese, mussels marinara and a host of salads, calzones and panninis. Table 87 has pleasant and affordable wine and beer list and some inviting daily deserts that we were just too stuffed to sample. If you want the amazing pizza, go for it, but don't be shy - step into the back room and enjoy the experience. You and your wallet will be very happy.

After seeing a play in the neighborhood, we stopped in at Table 87 for a late-night pizza and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and the friendliness of the staff. We ordered a mixed green salad and it was more than big enough to share. It had lots of fresh greens and fresh mozzarella and roasted red peppers. Then came the pizza - we ordered a large with sausage and roasted red peppers - and it was delicious! The pizzas are cooked in a coal oven so the crust was perfect. And there was lots of fresh basil on top. There was so much that we had to take half of it home. Very friendly waiter, Danny.

Why do people wait in long lines at Grimaldi's when they can walk a bit further through lovely Brooklyn Heights and have a superior slice or pie? I guess they just don't know better. The pizza here is genuine Brooklyn coal oven, crafted by great people. They make their own spicy pepper oil and roasted garlic should you choose to propel your slice to another tasty level.
