We had great family time, home made taste! Dumplings with potatoes and cherries were great, borsch good, great fruit compot and excellent tandir bread, just bring cash to pay only and no beer served either, prices are very good and taste like home, thanks for treat!

The Varenichnaya restaurant is really a hidden gem in Brighton Beach. This small but cozy restaurant serves authentic Russian food which tastes delicious. The menu comprises everything from salads to soups (like the famous borsch) to hot entrees to kebabs. I can highly recommend the pelmeni (dumplings consisting of a filling like meat, veal or chicken wrapped in thin, unleavened dough) and the vareniki (dumplings stuffed with fillings such as potato and cheese). The service was very polite and attentive. The value for money is great. Hence, I can highly recommend the Varenichnaya restaurant. You won`t be disappointed!

Walked in off the street on a Saturday night and knew right away that we found what we were looking for. A home-cooked delicious meal at more (or rather less) than a reasonable price. Almost everyone there was local, knew the waiter by name, and came not for a fancy meal but a relaxing time and a conversation over some wonderful food. The place seems to be family run and serves traditional dishes from Russia and central Asia (specifically Uzbekistan). They don't take credit/debit cards, so bring cash and get there early, they close at 9pm.
