Sit in the back and enjoy Korean tacos, bibimbap, and cocktails. Veggie friendly and great atmosphere.

“UnKorean Korean Restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 May 2013

This place is probably the most unKorean Korean restaurant you would find. Is that bad? No, it is a compliment.

At this restaurant, you would NOT find the typical things a customer is expected to accept in a Korean joint:

1) Smoke and stench from the barbecue.
2) Kimchi that should have been served a year ago.
3) MSG-laced dishes pretending to be edible food.

This is a Korean restaurant that is a real restaurant. The atmosphere is friendly, and the food is delectable, prepared with mostly organic ingredients. The bar has some amazing choices including the best Japanese sake you can find. This is the only Korean restaurant I visited twice in one week. I have never done that in my entire life.

“Unique and Fun”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 December 2012

One of great discoveries we made while searching for "Korean BBQ" style restaurant. This place is small uniquely "big'. Food is amazing and delish.

Strongly recommend it.

“Interesting and fun, but don't go if you're in a rush”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 May 2012

Their specialty is Korean tacos, and those are almost unbelievably good. But don't overlook their other, more traditional Korean dishes. There's not as much of a menu as you'll get at the "real" Korean restaurants in Manhattan and Queens, but what little they have is generally very well executed...as good as you'll get in Manhattan or Queens. The service is often hit or miss, even when it's not that busy. I think they mean well, but just don't hire wait staff who are interested or good at their jobs. So, don't be in a rush, or you'll just be frustrated.

“The service left a lot to be desired”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 March 2012

MYy friends and I went to Dokebi's for dinner on a Saturday evening...We had a 730p reservation and were seated within 5 minutes of everyone arriving...that was a plus...when we sat down we were given a menu and the drink order was taken fairly quickly...since we were talking I'm not really sure how long it was before we put in out appetizer order but I believe it was a reasonable amount of time...approximately 15 minutes after telling our server the appetizer order we ordered our entrees...this is when the experience took a nose dive!! After about 30 minutes we were brought out our complimentary salads (for those that ordered food that was to be grilled at the table). Not too long after that the food started coming out one at a time (no one ate at the same time...smh). When the first two entrees came out we asked what happened to the appetizers, apparently our server never put them in. Since the food was coming out we told him never mind...We were a party of 6 and 5 of the entrees came out about 5 minutes apart....the last member of our party did not receive her food (udon noodles) until we were all FINISHED!! Although the food was good, I was extremely disappointed by the service...it was hard for us to enjoy the experience since we all ate at different time...I don't think I will be making a return visit...although the food was very good, the service left a lot to be desired,
