“Extremely interesting”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 December 2013

As mentioned by other reviewers, this area of parkland with a visitor centre (sorry, "center" for you Americans) is where the man himself was raised. An extremely fitting tribute to a very interesting man, about whom we knew nothing before our visit. Well worth a detour.

“Nice close and far”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 September 2013 via mobile

We went during the Prairie Days, the museum was worth going through, but the site also has experience type set-ups, which makes it worth the trip x2. We did not walk to the home site, which would have been interesting in itself, it was also set with hands on displays for Prairie Days. There was also bbq to buy and free hay rides. Someone really cared about this days set up, and I can only think other special events would be set up as well. Even so, the museum and home would be worth the trip.

“Awesome National Monument!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 September 2013

This is an extremely well done national monument. The National Park Service continues to remind me what good things come from tax dollars, but this monument made me want to donate! George Washington Carver was an incredible man with an incredible story. I thought the exhibits were informative and thoughtfully presented. It wasn't just about history and science - it could inspire any person in any walk of life to be their very best.

We didn't have children with us on this visit, but I felt like there was plenty to do for kids of all ages and adults. We didn't have the time to walk around the grounds, but it will definitely be on our list of places to visit again.

“Great tribute for a great Man.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 August 2013

This is a very interesting Monument to visit. It sits on the site where GWC grew up. The visitor's center covers his life growing up, then him going through college and then returning to college to teach. It also displays some of the discoveries he has made, mostly with peanuts as the main ingredient. Outside there is a 3/4 of a mile walking path that goes through the woods and past the family cemetary, the house where his caretakers lived, and to a statue of GWC as a boy. Great place to spend an hour or two and learn.

“Everyone Should Stop Here!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 August 2013

This was our second visit and we enjoyed it every bit as much as our first. Everyone in this country should visit this monument and especially every African-American. What a wonderful, godly man who gave so much to not only our country but the whole world. He is an inspiration to everyone and a testament to how one man can change the world! There is a walking trail that was easy to navigate. The displays are very well done. His quotes are very inspirational. It is worth driving way out of the way to stop here and the road leading to the Monument is a fun, hilly road!
