“A River Runs Through it!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 November 2013

My sister, niece and I walked through the park during a monsoon rain and it was just beautiful! The trickle of a creek turned into a rging river that day and we were impressed! Beautiful down there with the oaks and cottonwoods, wildflowers and bushes. That particular day it was a particularly beautiful walk.

“NICE Walking Path”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 November 2013

I kind of stumbled on this when I parked in an alley. It was a beautiful walk with my dogs, made interesting by all the old stone work.

“Kinda cool!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 October 2013

Nice overlook and great history. Located right by the main drag makes it a great stop for a great view. We didn't walk down, but there is a path where you can walk down to the bottom of the ditch. Very cool!

“Main Street?”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 September 2013

Big Ditch Park is a linear park along what used to be Main Street. Some major floods have washed away all the top soil - down about 55 feet! The town has done a wonderful job of making this area welcoming and relaxing.

“Worth a look”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 August 2013

It's worth 15-20 minutes of your time to check out Big Ditch Park. Firstly to admire the innovation of the town's population - this area could so easily have been left as a dumping ground - and secondly to appreciate the town's history. The ditch is where Main Street stood until it was washed away by a massive flood (you can see photos in the nearby Yankie coffee shop).

The park has a nice shady walk along a 2-3 block stretch and two bridges to Hudson St (Route 90). We found a couple of locals having a chat along the way - and a man asleep on a bench. We did not find the park to be dangerous at all - and saw no evidence of illegal activity. But, like any park, I wouldn't hang out there at night.
