My husband is extremely allergic to dog and cat hair, so when booking our room, I made sure to book a room in the main lodge where, according to the Lodge Policies on their website, dogs are not allowed. Imagine our surprise when we were greeted at the main lodge by a barking Standard Poodle coming out of the dining area. Poodles are known for being allergy friendly, so after advising the owner of the issue, we continued on to our room. The Emery Room was lovely, with a small balcony perfect for two. That afternoon we hiked some of the lodge trails and truly enjoyed the grounds and scenery. The main lodge building looks very comfortable, but we didn't want to take any risks with an allergy attack, so after a dinner in town, spent the remainder of the evening relaxing in our room. At breakfast the next morning, we were shocked to see a small Yorkie type of dog wandering in and out of the kitchen and around the tables as we were served breakfast. I'm thinking Public Health Code issues here... I like dogs, and raised Champion German Shepherds, but dogs have a place, and it is not in the kitchen or dining room of an inn, lodge, or restaurant, unless they are service animals. Thumbs up for the building, grounds, and breakfast; thumbs down on management.
