Just spent a peaceful week at Village Inn. We used it as a homebase for hiking and rafting trips. Easy access to Glacier National Park shuttles, National Park Service evening programming, and basic necessities (groceries, laundry, restaurant). The hotel is quite simple, but clean and the views are the best. Each room faces the lake. It's a great place to relax.

Room Tip: Some rooms have kitchenettes. Others have two bedrooms.

We had a room on the bottom floor so we literally stepped out our door to the edge of the lake. They had chairs for you to sit in and that I did! I came out early in morning and had some coffee and read a book. It was so peaceful. My son even got off his ipad for awhile to play on the rocks and in the water, so that is saying something. ;-)

The bathroom was decent and they had shampoo, conditioner and body wash, which I didn't expect in a place like this. The beds were small, just doubles.

We had a kitchen and made use of the frig. If there had been more in the town store I might have been more motivated to cook.

I liked that it was next to a place where you could rent paddle boards which I tried for the first time. It was only $10 an hour, which is a steal.

Title pretty much says it all. The facility itself is quite dated, with a bathroom that could really use a bit more shelf-space and somewhat icky rugs and bedspreads. We also encountered issues with insects being able to get in through the screening (more like around it, since it isn't a tight fit on the casement windows). Still, being right on the lake makes up for any shortcomings.

We enjoyed our stay here, and would visit again despite the relatively high cost for dated digs. The area is just that nice, the scenery that beautiful.

It has been a while since we were here but the recent reviews confirm that this place hasn't changed. Rooms all face the lake, which is unusual for a hotel. It is located right on the western side of Lake McDonald which means that the sunrises are spectacular. Rooms are spacious and very well appointed. The adjoining restaurant is very nice. And, as the recent reviews indicate, it is still an affordable place to spend the night (or several nights). This is a great choice for accommodations on the western side of Glacier Nat'l Park.

Room Tip: All of the rooms face the lake so pretty much any room will be more than adequate.

Upon arriving at Village Inn, I was reminded of the many beach town resorts that I have visited. It was much more commercial than the lodges and inns of East Glacier. However, the room was adequate with an amazing lake view, and it slept 5. The bathroom was large enough and always had hot water when needed. Kayaks were available to rent, and the many shops around the corner provided coffee, snacks, and crafts for an evening diversion.

If you are looking for a five star hoity-toity snob appeal lodge, go to the glacier grand. If you want quiet, adequate lodging at an affordable price, and on the shores of a most beautiful lake, then this is the one for you. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

I booked a room in early February for August; our room view was Lake McDonald! Absolutely amazing! We were thrilled that we arrived late in the afternoon to really appreciate our location and lake.

I could go on and on ~ staff were friendly, room was very accommodating and clean but, really, it's about the location! Amazing ~ this place will take your breath away!

I will plan to stay for then one night next time!

Room Tip: Catch both - sunrise and sunset!
