“Good eats”
Reviewed 5 August 2012

Lentil curry soup and the salmon chowder were outstanding. Kids menu is great. Smallish portions for the adult entrees. Eating outside when it is not raining is a treat.

“Superb location and view”
Reviewed 16 July 2012

This is one of the only choices for dinner in Gustavus. The menu is large with interesting choices. It may seem a bit expensive but considering everything is shipped in, it is actually something of a bargain. The fixed price dinners at one or two Inns can be much more expensive but we didn't try them and can't evaluate.

The food and the service were generally very good but notably inconsistent. (Not surprising with seasonal help, mostly college students). One night the seafood chowder was excellent so we ordered it the next night and it was awful, no seafood, just potatoes and thick, white paste passing for chowder. Different chef? Out of ingredients? The pasta was excellent, the salads good. Several hot dishes were served cool to cold and my wife sent one back to be heated. The server couldn't have been nicer, took it back, they did reheat it and then they let it sit and again served it cold. Another ex., a women at the table next to us ordered something, asked if it was vegetarian and then was almost physically sick when she started eating and found there were pieces of bacon in it.

All in all, a comfortable place with a surprisingly nice and reasonably priced menu in a stunning setting. Very nice staff but don't be surprised by some errors or inconsistencies.

“Pricey but Convenient”
Reviewed 24 October 2011

The food was very good, but it can get pricey if you're eating 3 meals a day there - ask for the bar menu during dinner. You may have to sit outside, but it's a way to avoid spending a fortune on dinner every night!
