We were so happy to find a place to stay in page when every other hotel was booked to the max. On the outside Debbie's hideaway looked pretty run down if you ask me. We were suprise to see that the inside was fixed up. The beds were extremely uncomfortable and when you went to sleep in them you didn't feel as if they were clean. On our second night we did find a bed bug and even looked up pictures of them to be 100% sure. We left right away and left a note. Don't stay here. I think they could of done way more to prevent this from happening. I do not recommend anyone to stay here. Don't take the chance. It also want clean. The plates looked as I they had just been ran under the water and not scrubbed. My teenagers say they will never stay here again. I agree. Sounds harsh, but it is what it is.

Hello Would have been nice;

This time of year Page is THE place to be, as you discovered. Visitors from around the globe have heard about our slice of heaven and make plans to see exactly what it is all about… When you were here the high was 96 degrees and the low was 70, and when Lake Powell is full, there is more shoreline around the lake, than there is along the United State’s western seashore! Furthermore, Debbie’s Hide A Way offers guests the opportunity to experience the area from a unique perspective. Unlike the boring cookie cutter chain motels, our buildings are VIBRANT and UNIQUE in that they housed the very individuals responsible for the lake’s formation. Our guest’s have the chance to experience a portion of history, while also enjoying all of the modern comforts in today’s society. Simply saying we take pride in the experience we provide guests, would be an understatement. Unfortunately, not everyone is capable of utilizing the above conditions and enjoying a once in a life time experience. Apparently, not even a slice of heaven is up to some people’s taste…

One of the oldest email scams is to request money be sent via Western Union in order to receive ‘your winnings from the XYZ lottery’. Recently, the big scam hitting hospitality is to make a claim and threaten to write a bad review if the guest is not compensated with a free room and or additional money. This is pure and simple BLACKMAIL! The note you left fits the description of this scam exactly.

As a matter of fact, our licensed and trusted pest control that has been in business for over 30 years in the Page area, sprayed all of our units on 5/23/14 starting at 11:20 am. The company found all units to be clean and free of any bugs. In their inspection, they aggressively look for bed bugs and any signs of them. We again received a clean bill of health; still they sprayed just to help keep us that way. Even with the added protection from our pest control, we do a complete bug check after each guest checks out. We check all closets and low cupboards for bugs or misplaced items as well as the beds and surrounding area. The day before you checked in, we had a guest in the exact same room who did not mention a single thing about bugs. After that guest checked out, we checked the bedrooms for bugs after we stripped the beds. We did a second bug check when we did our final walk through of the unit to ensure a perfect stay for our next guests, you all. Not a single bug! After finding your note, the entire cleaning crew and management went in & took the beds apart, completely moved and checked all furniture, and did a very thorough inspection of the bedrooms. We found NOT A SINGLE BUG, though we did find a lot of food crumbs you all left… Unlike your claim, we have pictures. Seeing the food all over the beds and the floors we were shockingly surprised not to find any bugs. We didn't even find an ant! We accredit our pleasant findings to the fact that you only stayed two nights.

By the very nature of a hotel, bugs happen, however we are proactive in ensuring that when a guest brings a bug in, the bug does not stick around to greet new guests. We want to provide an expierence to guests, that we would feel comfortable providing to our very own grandchildren, which is why we give guests a direct phone number to reach onsite management 24/7. IF, you did find a bug, it would have been an elm beetle as we have numerous elm trees around the area. The two might look somewhat similar to the uninformed, but are completely different in shape and size. As you and most other guests realize, we don’t have mosquitoes or flies, which is why in the evenings most guests leave their doors open and venture outside onto the patio to socialize, enjoy the cool fresh air and use the BBQ grill. I wonder how many elm beetles came in those days? If you had done your research (more than just a quick and panicked Google glance) you would have found the elm beetle is harmless. Furthermore, if you truly did find a bed bug, I am sure you would have brought it to our attention in the morning rather than simple leave with a note demanding money. An honest person would have proof to make such a claim and be able to back up such a serious statement. As you were only looking for money and free lodging, we find your actions cheap, petty and certainly illegal.

Lastly, the “sheets that didn't feel clean” or the “dishes that looked like they'd been rinsed and put in the cupboard” ...while those comments are much less serious of an accusation as compared to bed bugs, those comments just push our last button. We routinely check the dishes in the cupboards and rewash any that are not up to standard. As for your sheets, we know they were clean before you checked in and were unsure as to why you had such an issue with them. Then we remembered… you might enjoy a cleaner night’s sleep, if you DO NOT EAT in bed and then roll around in all of your crumbs.

On a parting note, who doesn’t like Google?! Google has opened the doors to an array of information that would otherwise still be firmly closed to multitudes of individuals. While we happen to love Googling subjects such as “the Lake Powell fishing report”, and “weather forecast for Page”, we do not Google topics in the hopes of becoming experts within 90 seconds. Would you diagnose yourself (using Google) with a heart defect, and then attempt to perform open heart surgery after Googling a few more pages? No! Google is great for things like what bait is catching the bass this time of year and which canyon they are in and if you should bring a rain poncho, but Google is NOT great for creating instant heart surgeons, or in your case making you an instant Entomologist. For some interesting subjects you might want to Google check out some terms and phrases such as, “libel”, and “bugs mistaken for bed bugs.”

We spent one night here and just absolutely loved our stay!!! I wish I had got to meet Tony... he wasn't there, but the 2 managers who were there were as helpful as Tony was on the phone!! Thanks for all the maps and directions to our Page adventures!! I loved the special touches... Bonfire ready to go at night, accessible laundry, chocolate treats, and much more!! I wish there were more places like this!!! Lovely stay and memories of making s'mores and playing cards on the back patio will always be cherished!!! My kids LOVED this place as well!! Would much rather experience this than a resort!! Thank you Debbie's for being such a positive part of our Grand Canyon experience!! My only complaint... Wish we stayed longer!! Praying I'll be back someday!!!

We arrived at our Hotel in Page only to find our Travel Company had messed up the booking. We managed to find a vacancy at Debbie's Hide a Way at around 7 in the evening and booked it straight away. Shannon and Audie; the Managers; could not have been more helpful absolutely going above and beyond to help us in somewhat stressed circumstances. In other circumstances we would definitely stay here again; the location was excellent: central but in a little quiet street. The rooms were spotless and there was a nice little garden/patio area at the back where you could relax with a glass of wine or your dinner.

All the comforts of home, plenty of space, quiet, clean enough. As commented by others, some maintenance work to building and yard would lift Debbie's into a higher rating. We would certainly come here again in future and thank the managers for friendly service.

My wife and I recently spent two nights in the one bedroom suite. The room was clean and comfortable. The motel is located in an area that seems a little run down but the owners of Debbie's and other motel owners are cleaning up the neighborhood. We were within walking distance of several restaurants and never felt unsafe walking at night.

We did feel close to 300.00 with tax for the two nights was a little high but it was a busy weekend in the Page area. But speaking of the area it was beautiful! Make sure to see the lower antelope canyon, the Glen Canyon Dam and Lake Powell, and Horseshoe bend overlook..WOW!!

Looking forward to returning to the Page area and would stay at Debbie's Hideaway again .
