My wife and I had a wonderful time being cared for by a warm family operation in a beautiful, quiet setting. Suite A had all we needed for a relaxing couple of nights and days, including a hearty breakfast and timely service.
The comfortable amenities were just right for an escape from the buzyness of town, and Adam and Kasey and family were a joy to visit with. Although an overnight canoe trip was not in our plans this time, the Clearwater crew was very helpful to those heading out onto the water. For any visit to the Gunflint Trail area, you'll be pleased with your stay here as well!

My girlfriend and I stayed at the lodge for a night before entering the Boundary Waters. The room was nice and we both slept well. Breakfast in the morning was very good. Adam and Kasey were very helpful getting us ready for our trip. Overall it was a great experience at a very neat lodge on a beautiful lake. If you're up in the area I would recommend this place.

From the moment we arrived, we knew this was the absolutely best choice for lodging on the Gunflint Trail. The lodge sits about 4 miles down the road off Gunflint. Adam and KAasey are there to welcome you and show you to your room. They are an invaluable resource, not only with sharing about the lodge itself, but about the area as a whole. Want to plan a canoe trip- just ask for advice. Hiking- they can lead you to the best options. All personalized to what you are looking for. They love this lodge and and area and it is so apparent!
Breakfast is served in the dining room- Chet's choice! And it was delicious. Don't miss the homemade pies (available by the slice or whole pie. and the cookies- yum: an unexpected treat...Campfires at night...friendly people throughout the lodge and cabins...
Boundary Waters Canoe Wilderness Area is a very special place. And a stay at Clearwater Lake Lodge, whether for a night or more, makes it that much more special. Well done, guys!

Room Tip: We stayed in suite A, which had 2 bedrooms, living area, kitchenette, and bathroom. More than adequate for 5 adults!

We rented a nice bunkhouse and some canoes from Clearwater Lodge and it was a great start to our trip. Adam is a great resource and host and was very helpful as I researched what would be a good set of lakes and portages to take our young kids for their first trip to the BWCA. A hearty breakfast before we took off and complimentary beverage when we got back was icing on the cake. Can't wait to go back!

I've been going to the BWCAW for years and have come to rely on Clearwater Lodge and Outfitters. Excellent equipment, sensible advice, outstanding support and recent renovations to lodge and cabins make this my first choice in the Gunflint Trail area. They make sure that we have a great time and our 2013 trip proved it again.
