“Great family vacation”
Reviewed 9 October 2013

We had a great family vacation at clearwater lodge. We explored the lakes, hiking trails, and Grand Marias. The staff at Clearwater was very helpful and accommodating. We will be coming back next summer!

When planning a trip for my husband, sister-in-law and I it was important to find the perfect outfitter. The Clearwater team was perfect! I choose them based on many reviews and was thrilled with everything they did. At every step Adam, Kasey, Erik and crew accomodated us to make our trip everything we wanted it to be. We had a great time. The gear was first rate and Adam answered every question about every piece. The food was more than plentiful and excellent. Adam recommended a wonderful route based on the needs and preferences of our group (we added two more friends before leaving). He suggested day trips that included wildlife and a great waterfall hike. There are lots of outfitters for the BWCA but Clearwater Lodge is my first and best choice!!

We stayed at Clearwater Lodge in the Bed and Breakfast for two nights and enjoyed every minute. We love the area, but the camping out days have passed. This was a great way to get every bit of the glory of this area and enjoy the comforts of a lodge. The beds were comfortable and cozy, the breakfasts were delicious, and sitting around the fire having a cup of tea or coffee and enjoying chatting with the other guests was delightful. Adam and Kasey are the perfect hosts, eager to share their love and knowledge of the lodge and area. Their love for what they do and where they do it is a big part of the charm. We will be back, and will recommend it to everyone we know heading up to God's Country.

Room Tip: The B&B rooms are small but cozy, and perfect for a couple. The suites look wonderful too, with...

We used Clearwater for partial outfitting and put-in transport for a week long trip in the BWCAW this summer. The gear we got was top notch and all the folks we worked with were great. Lovely, historic lodge to boot and a pretty well stocked store for last minute needs. Would highly recommend and we'll almost certainly be back!

I didn't stay in the rooms but Tripadvisor makes us rate them anyway - so 5 stars across the board!

I'm no longer enjoy sleeping on the ground or living without my creature comforts but I still love to taking day's long hikes or paddles. Clearwater Lodge is a perfect place to take in the beauty of the BWCA and to stay in a lovingly preserved lodge with great amenities and friendly staff.

Room Tip: Suite A in the lodge is perfect for a small family.

I've been to the Clearwater Lake Lodge twice. I love the lodge, and I love the lake. Adam, Kasey, Erik, and Gloria will take good care of you, whether you're renting a cabin or gearing-up to head into the Boundary Waters. They will assist you whether you're an experienced traveler of the Boundary Waters, or brand new to the experience (like me). Here are a few recommendations for you. First, be sure to have breakfast at the lodge. Gloria prepares home-cooked breakfast for you. Breakfast is a great time to converse with fellow travelers about their experiences. After I leave the lodge, I miss Gloria's breakfast. (If you're staying at the lodge, breakfast is included.) Second, be sure to sample Gloria's baking. Everything she makes is delectable. I especially like her mixed berry pie. If you're new to canoeing, and renting a canoe, get one of the lighter-weight ones. They are the easiest to paddle and to portage. Just talk to Kasey and Adam - they'll get you headed in the right direction. :-)

My wife and I visited this lodge this past summer and had a great visit. We stayed for about a week and were in the main lodge upstairs in a suite. The accommodations are rustic but beautiful and the owners and staff are very friendly. The breakfast that came with staying in the main lodge was excellent and the lodge has a nice little gift shop that includes everything from T-shirts to bandaids and soda. Clearwater lake is beautiful and very uncrowded. We would definitely recommend the Clearwater Lodge if you are looking for a quiet and comfortable visit with nature. One note - do not count on a internet connection, it was essentially not usable most of the time were there.
