On 7/13 our family stayed in 2 rooms here, based on a friend's rec and reviews on Google (wasn't listed on TA yet). I was skeptical because hotel was old, but there's not much to pick from in Deer Lodge, MT - we were passing through on a long road trip. What a pleasant surprise to find this little gem for less than $70/nite! Even though this hotel is old (outside entry, 2 story, no elevator), our rooms had been very well maintained and all items in the room worked and were of good qlty. Appeared freshly painted and were as clean or cleaner than any place we've ever stayed, regardless of price... rooms even smelled good. I haven't found this level of care or cleanliness typical of old hotels (esp the bathroom floor, etc). No pillowtop but mattress was comfy and seemed fairly new and of good qlty... same w/the pillows, bedding, and towels. Two easy chairs, flat screen w/Direct tv, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and free internet. Staff (Larry and Lisa) were very welcoming and helpful. The only two things that kept me from rating this a 5 was 1) Skimpy bfast selection (don't think anything was hot, mostly pkgd pastries, cold cereal and some bananas) - we had good and reasonably priced bfast at nearby 4Bs Restaurant; and 2) Didn't like qlty of soap/shampoo in the shower dispenser (we liked the use of a dispenser - used a lot in Europe - just need to improve qlty of soap). All in all this little place is a super value and we will definitely stay here again when we pass through, and will recommend to others.
