My family and I stayed in a 2 bedroom, 2 bath cabin and it had plenty of room for us. We have 4 small children so 3 slept in second bedroom and we brought a pack-n-play for the baby. There was a pool table and hot tub to occupy our time while at the cabin. I used the kitchen to prepare some meals and it had pretty much everything I needed. The decor was beautiful and the cabin itself was spotless. We woke up to several Canadian geese strolling across the lawn 2 different mornings and the boys loved seeing that. The resort was a little bit of a drive from Gatlinburg but there were grocery stores and some fast food on the way so you had some options as far as eating. You did have to go into Gatlinburg for restaurants though. I highly recommend it and would stay there again.

White Oak Lodge and resort is a beautiful place to stay. It is about 15 minutes from the downtown area of Gatlinburg and the smokey mountains entrance. This is our second time here and we love it. The place is really clean, has a screened in porch with a hot tub and a great kitchen to cook meals in.

We stayed for a week and drove down from Chicago (about a 10 hour drive). When we go - we love to spend a lot of our time doing outdoor activities. Some of the trails that we hiked in the smokes were:

-Mt. LeConte via Rainbow falls - 13.8 mile round trip hike with awesome views. This goes up 3993 feet in elevation. Took us about 8 hours to get up and down with all stops and rest at the top. If you go - you can make reservations at the cabins on top and eat food up there as well. Nothing special - it is on top of a mountain! If your doing the whole trip in one day - wear good shoes that support your ankles and bring lots of bug spray and water. Great hike!
-Laurel Falls - very easy hike - I did the hike in what I wore out for dinner that night. We saw a bear on the trail. He didn't want anything to do with us. Go near sunset for a better chance at seeing wild life.
-Abrams falls is a great hike with a waterfall at the end.
-Clingman's Dome is one of the highest peaks. You can drive there and take the 15 minute very steep walk up to the top. Great view. I recommend early morning or sunset to get the best view.
-Chimney Tops - great hike with an awesome view at the end. Hard rock climb to get to the highest peak - many don't go that far.
-Cades Cove - take the drive to see the wildlife. There is a lot of history as well that is fun to see.

We also did some white water rafting...I recommend using the TOC company. They are the safest and have the best guides. We did the pigeon river this time - but I recommend the river in NC instead. It is a little bit of a drive but a better river to go down.

As far as food - we went to the store and bought stuff to make for most of the week. There are gas grills so we would grill almost every night. The food in town is very commercial and not that great. There was a good BBQ place right before you go into the smokeys but I forget what it was called.

We also spent sometime at the pool...my husband loved to jump through the waterfalls. There are some locals that came to the pool each day we were there. They didn't cause any harm but it was kind of annoying. There is a sign that tells locals to stay out but they don't pay attention.

Have fun and relax! And don't forget to write something in the journal at the end of your trip! : )

My family and I stayed in a 3 bedroom, 2 bath cabin at this resort. The cabin was very attractive and had some very nice features like double granite sinks in both bathrooms and flat screen TVs in each bedroom. The cabin had a hot tub on the back enclosed porch and a Jacuzzi tub in the second floor bath.

The resort itself is about 10 miles outside of Gatlinburg, which was excellent since we were away from all the heavy traffic in the city itself. There is an outdoor pool which was nice in the August heat. They have a single tennis court available and horseshoe pits. They have an agreement with the resort not far down the road that has a small workout room you can use.

A Food City store is about 8 miles toward the city and was well stocked each time we were there. We used the Food City card we got when we signed up for the first time for discount gas, which is right next door to the store.

I really thought this place was clean and the managers, Johnny and his wife were super friendly. The only reason I didn’t give this an excellent is because the internet connection was a nightmare. It was down for the first two days altogether. I was later told that one of the residents in a cabin with a router booster had disconnected the device. But even after that it would go down constantly for periods or the signal was so weak you couldn’t connect. This was really not a big problem for me since I had no reason to use the internet, but my wife is taking internet college courses and was very anxious every time the internet went down.

Overall a great friendly place and would gladly stay there again.

Wonderful, Clean & Spacious. Condo just as nice as Cabin. 2 bd, 2 b w/loft & fireplace, full kitchen, laundry room and close to everything. Pool area very nice with waterfalls and colored lights at night and a big fire pit. Staff, Johnny, Janine and Cheryl very nice and helpful. We really felt at home here. Also there is a club 5 min away with a work out facility/pools/pool table's you can use free of charge. Horseshoes/tennis court and basketball hoop are on grounds. Beautiful view from the deck off of living area. Country store right next door.We would definetly return to White Oak Lodge and Resort.

We stayed July 3 through the 8th. The cabins were spacious, clean, and lovely. The pool and the pool view will amaze. Several nights I just sat in the pool and looked out over the mountains. My only criticism was that the propane grills didn't work. Make sure you go to the Monday night information session as you will receive a lot of good advice. There is free wireless, but the signal isn't very strong, so print out what ever you need before going. There is a computer in the lodge, but the lodge was never open, except for the Monday night session. Make sure you sign up at the Family City grocery store for the Value Card so that you won't pay full price for everything. In addition, you will get fuel points. We had enough points to get two fill ups with 20 cents off the gallon. The store was fully packed with people, so don't wait to sign up from the line, go to customer service and it only takes 2 miutes to sign you name and address. There is a riding stable down the road and the service was great. The kids road for 1 hour for 25 bucks and that was a good deal from what I could tell. Take an extra 20 with you so that you can purchase all of the pictures from the trail ride.
There is a fire pit by the pool. We never took the time to light it, but I wish I had.

We had a beautiful 3 bedroom cabin. The setting is gorgeous and the enviornment relaxing. Our entire family enjoyed the pool and the staff. The property managers gave a presentation on things to do in the area. It's very informative, go if you have the chance. There is so much to do in the area, we will be back next fall to see more things.
We did the Great Smokey Mountain train, which was enjoyable but a little expensive. Two restaurants we particulary enjoyed were Calahon's (yummy bbq) and Great Bear Grill (awesome trout).
