“Room for Family w. Teenagers to Spread Out (#414)”
Reviewed 9 August 2011

When the boy and girl were younger we could get by with a basic 2 double hotel room. It has also become difficult for Wife and I to sleep in anyhting but a king bed. Now the kids are teeneagers... We wanted a long weekend and do spend some time in the room so having comfortable accomidations is important. There is a full kitchen, dinette w. 6 topper table, living room w. flat sreen, dvd, etc. gas fireplace (disabled in summer) and a spacious balcony overlooking pool. To either side are the bedrooms; master w. king bed, tv, ceiling fan, in-room whirpool, full double sing bathroom w.walk-in shower and laundry closet, other double bedroom w. tv and separate bathroom. Central air conditioning worked well. So much better than standard double room for just a smidge more money. Already made reservations to return in Dec.

The rooms were beautiful! I loved the themes; they really got you into the spirit of being in the mountains. It was very secluded & the creek (right outside our room!) was gorgeous. A bear passed through by the creek every night around 6. It would just run around & it was great. The only problems: its a little hard to find & treacherous to get there. Make sure you have an experienced driver! & the pool was kind of dirty. Of course, we were in the mountains, so I suppose leaves in the pool were only to be expected:) overall, gorgeous, accomodating, great location. :)

We vacation in Gatlinburg every fall and this is our fourth year at Baskins Creek Condos. We love it here - it is new, clean and the staff have always been good to us. We love that it's a short walk downtown to eat and shop after a long, but fun day of hiking in the Smokies. We like the three bedroom unit #509.

Stayed over Labor Day. Easy walk to restaurants and attractions. Close to National Park.

Stayed in #107. No real complaints. We had a view of the Scottish Inn Motel. A pool or residential view room might be preferred by some people.

Washer/Dryer in room but you might want to bring some extra towels and a spatula.

Our room was fairly quiet but we could hear our upstairs neighbors TV one night. But sound proof hotel/condo rooms are hard to come by.

Nice front desk staff.

This unit was so comfortable and convenient! It made our stay in Gatlinburg an absolute delight! It was roomy enough for our family of four; we had adult space as well as room for the kids to play. The kitchen was fully appointed; there was plenty of closet & drawer space for our stuff; the staff at the condo was especially helpful. The parking was secure and convenient. Best of all, we were within walking distance of the "strip", and were able to get around by car and trolley easily too. The drip-drip-drip in the master shower/bath area was a minor annoyance, but my husband (the plumber) recommends that someone look into this. It could mean extensive water damage behind the walls if left too long.

My family and I had a unique experience by staying in two different units over the same vacation period. This review will cover #107 only (#405 will be reviewed separately, with photos).

Our stay in this unit was a one-day extension to an existing four-day reservation. The $149+tax rate was on the high end, but understandable given the holiday, short notice, and limited availability (100% occupancy!). The lower floors all have standard ceilings, not vaulted like the top floor, but they still feel open and spacious. Both bedrooms are adequately sized, and all the furniture is pretty nice--far better than you'd get in most hotel suites. Overall, it's a great bargain compared to traditional hotels...the only thing you're giving up is continental breakfast and daily maid service. The advantages of privacy, space, and full kitchen/dining amenities far outweigh the drawbacks.

Staff and common areas: Top notch! The condo building feels like an upscale hotel, with free covered parking, coffee in the mornings, seasonal decor, and a common/lounge area in the lobby. Staff members Sarah and Leah were very helpful and accommodating to all of our requests, including short-term luggage storage and replacement of a broken kitchen utensil. The excellent service we received overshadowed any of the shortcomings of an otherwise average room. Without them, this unit would have been three stars.
