“Needs a little attention.”
Reviewed 14 October 2013

We originally booked a 2 BR Creekside Cottage, but on the day before our arrival we were transferred to a 3 BR Townhouse (#505) 'across the street',because of a gas leak at the cottage. The townhouse was in the 3rd tiered row of townhouses above the street. There was a bedroom on the garage level which smelled a little musty, and shares the basement with a laundry room. Stairs lead up to the main level with living room, dining area, kitchen and bedroom, and a porch overlooking the lower tiered townhouses; the hot tub is out on the porch. The top rail on the porch is rotting, and another townhouse's porch has a missing rail. A circular stairway, which dangerously protrudes into the living room, leads up to the 3rd bedroom. Each bedroom has a bath which is clean and adequately equipped but with no extras (like a hair drier, tissues, etc.), and the bathtub faucet was connected only to the pipe and not the wall of the shower. Our bed sagged in the middle. The townhouse was generally clean, though there were a few spots where some additional scrubbing might help. It's not a good place for children as there is no rail around the stairs leading down to the garage and a child could easily fall. But we did like the location, far enough from the noise of the strip but close enough to be walkable.

We recently got married in Cade's Cove and stayed with family at the Big Bear cabin in Pigeon Forge. It is very close to town and not and isolated cabin if you are looking for that. We needed a handicapped accessible cabin on a level lot for my Mom and Dad and it was perfect for that! The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our cabin was clean and had everything we needed for our 4 day stay including washer and dryer! We loved it!!

Room Tip: Not a lot of outside seating....take camping chairs!

Jakes Hideaway was a great cabin for the price. This was our second time to stay in this cabin and its just as the pictures show. Bridgett was AMAZING when I booked this cabin. She was very helpful and the booking was extremely quick. Overall the cabin was clean and well kept. If I could suggest any changes to this cabin it would be the TVs...they were extremely old and small as you can see in the pictures. Other than the TVs it was a great cabin for a weekend getaway.

I have mixed feelings about our stay in Bear Hugs. We were disappointed with this accommodation in a number of ways. But we had a wonderful time in the Smokies and in many ways it met our needs. The essentials were clean but generally it was decidedly grubby, and overall needed much maintenance/renovation. For example the hot tub worked well, but there was a warning notice, threatening a fine about not damaging the hot tub cover, and the cover was in a dreadful state! The 'full kitchen' was a disappointment. We wanted to cater for ourselves as we have dietary restrictions, and instead just bought microwaveable meals as there was only one pan I regularly used for boiling water and would not have cooked anything in the other pans even if I had the means/ desire to properly clean them. The jacuzzi worked well and was very welcome at the end of a day's hiking. We had one game of pool only, as we found the room was not big enough for it. Smaller cues might have worked, but the table also slanted so the balls would continue rolling. It was very difficult to get things dry, the place seemed a bit damp. This could have been related to its location. The bed was comfortable and we slept well for two nights but on the third there was a lot of noise outside the cabin/ on the roof which again is probably due to its location by the woods. We were told at the beginning of the rental that the firm had been sold on, so hopefully some investment will be made to improve this property.

We recently returned from our trip to the smokies. The cabin was great! I would agree that the beds are not plush, however, it's a cabin rental not a hotel. The location was amazing, yes we were up in the smokies and there were winding mountain roads, but that is exactly why we rented it! My family loved the hot tub. The kitchen was well appointed and the washer and dryer were great since i have a baby in cloth diapers and was able to wash them and other clothes. Check in and check out were super easy. The place was clean (remember is a cabin in the woods so yes there were spider webs outside but nothing inside). I would return again. The whispering pines cabin was right between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge which was excellent for both and going to the national park.

High Hopes Chalet was not clean - very dusty, tiolet dirty, floors dingy, carpet visibly dirty, mice droppings visible in many areas of chalet including the bed on the main floor, corners, and on the top of the fire place. Not enough lighting around property. Prospective residents should be informed that they are literally up in the top of the smokey mountains. Furthermore, units and parking not handicap accessible- VERY misleading ads in all aspects. Lastly, parking was limited, restricted, and dangerous. For the prices paid - this was not expected. Blinds on all windows on main floor would have been ideal. We will NOT stay in a baskinscreek property in the future- my family members who stayed in Bears Crossing the same weekend had similiar experiences.

The Honeymoon Lodge and the Honeymoon Cabins are a terrible waste of money. We kept thinking that suite accommodations with a fireplace and hot tub would be a nice romantic get-away, but after three tries over the past several years, we're not coming back. The units are not very clean, the fireplaces mostly don't work, the bathrooms are shoddy, the mattresses are old, lumpy and/or squeaky. Overall, very poor accommodations for the price.
