We bought this in 2006 when it was called Crown Park and owned by Burroughs and Chapin. We have yet to stay since HICV took over. (but we have been to South Beach resort in Myrtle Beach a week ago. Man , as nice as the resort staff was, the sales staff was hard sell hard sell hard sell).

You CAN fish in the creek that runs next to the resort, but there's really no point to.

Wired internet access. If you don't have a patch cable the front desk can lend you one. If you have more than one pc (as we normally do), you'll need to bring a switch so's you can share or set up an ad-hoc AP on one of the PC's.

Anyway, we love the location (just off the parkway and less than 1/2 mile from the door to the park entrance). We think the decor and amenities are just fine. The rooms are a bit smaller than other resorts, besides we don't spend much time in the rooms anyway, too much to do! Hiking, running, and disc golf. Hit up the Nike Clearance store. Grab a pie at Smokey Mountain pizza in Sevireville (cept closed on Sundays, sniff).

This was quite a surprise! We stayed 3 days. The resort had lots to offer, it was close to everything the Aquarium, park, shopping, pigeon forge, candy shop, & more. The staff was the best part the answered our every question, gave us direction, and even called to see what we like or disliked our stay. The manager at the desk even got us a hard bound local area guide that they keep in the room as we collect them for all the area's that we go to. Do forget to try the deep fried Oreo's and pulled taffy. The ride to the hotel is so beautiful if you like pretty views you will love this place. they have little balconies that you can see wildlfe and a stream. The room was very clean and had everything from a fireplace, spa tub, king bed, dishes, washer / dryer combo, dining table, and full size appliances. It is great for couples and families. The only down side is that if you have a big family they don't have daily housekeeping unless you pay a fee, but everything is there to do it yourself. Make sure you take all supplies like shampoo, soap, laundry soap, toothbrush, & ect, beacuse they don't have these things there. However there is a pharmacy at the end of the steet. Last but not least you have a place to park witch is a rarerity in Gatlinburg. Thanks again to the wonderful staff at the Holiday Inn Vacation Resort.

Everything about it was so wonderful. The kitchen had everything I needed to cook with and everything worked very well. Our bed was so comfy. It was great to be able to wash all of our clothes before we left and not have to come home and wash clothes. The only small complaint we had was our room had a big hot water heater and after you filled up the tub you had no hot water for a long time. But still a wonderful place to stay. We are now thinking about buying a timeshare with them.

We enjoyed our stay, we wished we could find a place like that to live. The layout of the room was nice. The only annoying thing was the two doors to get into the room, but lucky for us we had no one beside us until the last night. They showed up at like 11:30PM with kids running around slamming both doors and the bedroom is right next to the slamming doors. But all in all it was a nice place and not a far walk from anywhere. Its easy to find because you look for Bubba Gump and head up that road. I loved the tub in the bathroom, which was the main reason for picking this hotel.

My family just returned from a vacation at Smokey Mountain Resort at the beginning of January. Overall, our stay was quite enjoyable! It snowed while we were there making for the perfect winter vacation. (They are good clearing the roads in the area, so the snow isn’t really a huge problem!) The resort is nice and basically what we expected based off our research. The particular week we stayed, the resort was not at full capacity. Therefore, the check-in process was a breeze and they were willing to accommodate our request for specific view and floor. We requested a city view, which was beautiful overlooking downtown especially after it snowed; so definitely ask for a city view if possible. The hotel has a tri-level parking deck which is convenient especially during the winter, but it could easily be very difficult to navigate during the busier seasons. We stayed in a 3 bedroom unit, which is a 1-bedroom unit and a 2-bedroom unit connected by a common entrance foyer. Both units were equally nice, comfortable and made for an enjoyable stay. Both have a stone fireplace in the living room, perfect for cold days and a large television overhead. The overall décor was also perfect for the mountain setting.

First, the 2 bedroom unit: The kitchen area has all full size appliances, darker granite counters and a stackable washer and dryer in a closet beside the refrigerator. There were plenty of plates, and utensils for everyone in our family to use. However, the kitchen was somewhat small with not very much counter space and the sink was the smallest we have ever seen in a 2 bedroom unit! (It is a 1 bowl style like typically used at a wet bar). There is a large dining room table which was nice when everyone came over for dinner! The living room is a typical size and the balcony came with 2 rocking chairs, even though it was really too cold for us to enjoy them. The master suite is very spacious with a king bed and a large, dramatic whirlpool tub. The 2nd bedroom has 2 double beds which meant no one had to sleep on the couch like at most places. The overall size of the unit was also a little smaller than others we have stayed in. Additionally, there were some signs of poor craftsmanship in places, but nothing that will damper your stay. Look to my pictures for more of an idea of what I am describing.

Now the 1 bedroom: It was equally as nice; however, everything was just on a smaller scale; not exactly what I would consider ‘spacious’. The living room is much smaller than the 2 bedroom, and the kitchen is simply along one wall beside the couch. The master suite was also not as large as the 2 bedroom’s but still had plenty of room. The bathroom was connected to the bedroom as well as the foyer and had plenty of counter space and a large tub/shower combination. The washer and dryer were also located in the bathroom. Look to my pictures for more of an idea of what I am describing.

The resort itself has many positive qualities. The location being the biggest plus - within walking to the main area of downtown Gatlinburg! The large lobby was a great place to wait for the trolley or to play a game of chess on the tables beside the fireplace. They have a small room where you could purchase candies and a craft room with daily activities during the summer, neither of which we took time to use. The game room was not very large and only had a pool table and one arcade game. The indoor pool area was nice to use since the pool is heated, however it is not very large. The outdoor pool area looks much bigger so it’s probably no problem for guests during summer months. Also, one thing that comes up in other reviews and is something that you may encounter during your stay here is the horrible internet service. I simply cannot understand at all why a resort so nice chooses to have such crappy internet service this day and time! The access is NOT wireless (btw even the small motel across the street has wireless), but instead it is wall mounted. They will provide you a cable if you forget one, but even then the service hardly works. We could only use the internet in the 2 bedroom unit and even then it took 10 minutes of fumbling to get it to work. By the way, my 20 year old son, who as you might imagine lives off the internet, was the one trying to get it to work; so yeah, he knew what he was doing! When we commented on it a few times to the front desk, they responded that the internet service was excellent and they have never had any complaints. Not to call them liars, but we heard someone complaining the day before not to mention all of the people who have commented on it in reviews. However, all of these problems with the internet will not ruin your stay, just be aware of it.

Downtown Gatlinburg is generally attractive, but there are some older parts in need of repair. As you would expect there is tons shopping and dining to keep you busy. During the winter, the city has a “Winter Wonderland of Lights” display and a special trolley that will drive you around to see all of it. Honestly, I’m glad they only charged 5 dollars for that ride because it was not very good. First of all, there are not nearly as many lights as you are led to believe there is and the on board entertainment, bless their heart, is annoying. In between the sparse patches of lights along the way, they would tell stories about the history of the area. However, most of the stories had a repeated theme: death. It made the ride somewhat depressing so naturally the lady would then attempt to sing a Christmas carol to brighten the mood. Overall though it is a decent way to see the city and the trolley is heated. So if you have nothing else to do, go for it!

We also visited Ober Gatlinburg while we were there. It was great place with a lot to do to keep you busy for a day. Definitely take advantage of parking downtown and riding the tram up to the top. Even though it costs money, the ride up is absolutely beautiful, and the parking up top is VERY limited!! However, I would not recommend the ski resort for people learning how to ski! I’m sure the ski school staff is great, it’s just that the practice or bunny slopes for beginners is way too small to really learn how to ski well; trust me I’ve seen a lot of slopes! Also, go during the week if you can; you cannot beat the prices! I believe we only paid around $30 for a daytime slope ticket. The tubing area is also very nice as is the ice skating rink! If you make the trip up there and ride the tram, you absolutely HAVE to wait until it is dark to ride back down because the view of the city all lit up is stunting and a perfect end to the day!

Overall the vacation was very enjoyable for my family! Gatlinburg is a great area and definitely worth a visit. Smokey Mountain Resort is nice and won’t leave you disappointed, just with a few minor inconveniences during your stay. Refer to all of my pictures for accurate views of both units and the resort! All of what I have said has simply been my opinion, from a normal, honest traveler. Happy vacationing!

From first contact before check in to last contact at check out EVERY THING was PERFECT. Location, accommodations (had a beautiful one bedroom when their was just two of us but was given a large two bedroom when adult son came to visit), awesome customer service, ammenities and even though the resort didn't provide this we did have two very pretty days of fluffy snow. We were there six nights and loved every minute. The resort is only a very short (four block) walk to town (downhill) but if you don't feel like walking, a trolley stop is immediately outside the front door to the resort. Very conveniet for hopping on and off and the trolley even goes to Pigeon Forge and to the local "Craft Trail" (an eight mile long trail of wonderful arts and craft stores).

We were guest of the resort as timeshare exchange owners but you can also rent the condos. We were NEVER approached by anyone trying to get us to go to a "talk" . The resort has two pools (one indoor and one outdoor) and a wonderful crafts room with at least three or more daily activities for children as well as adults to do.

Again, I was very pleased the whole week of our stay and highly reccommend this resort.

My family and I stayed in a 1 bedroom condo. The rooms were very well laid out and had everything we would need for our stay. There was plenty of room for my four and eight-year-old to move about and they enjoyed "camping" in the living room on the sleeper sofa.

The king size bed was very comfortable with plenty of pillows and blankets. The bath was one of the roomiest I have seen in a 1 bedroom condo. It contained an oversize whirlpool bathtub with shower, washer/dryer combo, and a large vanity. One word of warning regarding the whirlpool bath/shower: The bath tub rests on a plateau which is about 12 inches off the bathroom floor. This makes stepping into and out of the bath a challenge. It would be very easy to fall while getting out of the shower.

The living room/kitchenette was spacious and had the sleeper sofa, chair, coffee tables and end tables, and a dinette set with seating for four. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, pots, pans, glass bake ware, utensils, wine glasses, coffee mugs, coffee maker, toaster, microwave, full-size range with oven, full-size refrigerator, and a mini-dishwasher. Some dish washing soap and laundry detergent was provided as well.

The living room also contained a very nice gas fireplace, which would easily heat the entire condo without the aid of the central HVAC system, and a dinosaur of a television.

We had a great time and made full use of the indoor pool and hot tub. The only problem was having to bundle up (temps were in the 40s) to get to the pool as this hotel features exterior corridors leading to the elevator. You have to put your bathing suit on under your winter coat :).

The foyer design is bizarre. I don't fully understand the need for the foyer leading to two rooms. I am sure our neighbors were quite pleased with our constant running into and out of the room. While we tried our best to do so quietly, they were undoubtedly disturbed.

This hotel also has a large "crafts" room and they have a hostess on staff who helped my children make Christmas ornaments, necklaces, and other little craft projects. She was awesome and the kids loved doing the projects. In the same craft room, there are several board games, puzzles, a library of books, and all kinds of fun stuff that you can "check out" from the craft room and take back to your condo. We spent one evening playing Sorry.

While they currently do not have wireless internet, they do have an Ethernet port under the kitchen table and the connection was fast and reliable during my stay.

Overall, it was one of the nicest hotels we have stayed in downtown Gatlinburg. Everything is a short walk and parking is plentiful and free to guests.
