Downtown gatlinburg is grid lock most of the day. It's faster to walk. Don't bother using your car unless going outside of trolley routes. If doing that give yourself two hours to get to your destination. Patience/planning will make your trip enjoyable.

Inexpensive and can take you all over Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. I took it from Dollywood back to Gatlinburg. There was no problem with the trolley The problem is the hideous traffic. The town of Gatlinburg really needs to analyze their horrific traffic problems they have downtown That was the biggest downer of our trip

It was free while we were visiting however information about stops to get on and off and all of that is not as readily available as it should be.

I stayed at the Westgate Smoky Mountain resort and between using the shuttle in the resort and being able to hop on board the Gatlinburg Trolley, we did very little driving our entire 4 day trip. My bf especially liked this because he works as a driver and was able to take a break from driving for awhile. The only tidbits of info I can give people about the Gatlinburg Trolley is that during the tourist season, the trolleys fill up fast and if you ride at night, there can be some pretty rowdy and loud people on board. I have used public transportation in many other towns and the price is very good compared to other places.

With a variety of routes at an unbelievably low price (50 cents per person or $2 for an all-day pass) you can ride from one end of town to the other or take scenic tours. The routes are color-coded and maps are available in free brochures and on the trolley.

We love to hop on the red or green route and take a ride all the way around town just to see what has changed since our last visit. These routes also take you to a hotel located above the city where you can have a spectacular view of the surrounding mountains. Enjoy the view, stay on the trolley and ride back to where you started or hop off at a stop in town.

Other routes travel into the Smoky Mountain National Park and the Gatlinburg Arts and Crafts Community. Still others connect with nearby Pigeon Forge (home of Dollywood).

A free parking lot is available between Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg where you can park and catch the trolley into the central station located at Ripley's Aquarium. From there, monitors tell you the route colors and when their next arrival is expected. Or you can walk a couple of blocks to main street Gatlinburg.
