We, a family of 3 (mom, dad and 12 yr old son) kicked off a week-long holiday by passing thru the Smokies for a single night. With the massive Gatlinburg lodging market, the places well-rated online sell out early, and second-tier outfits can be hit-and-miss. We could have gambled on a $50-$90/nt motor inn. We considered staying at any midrange $90-$130/nt chain, knowing that the price premium goes toward the chain proper and does nothing to enhance the on-site experience. When I learned that smacking down another Hamilton could get us in here, the choice was easy. The view was first-rate, the room was beautiful, and my son loved the architecture. The only disappointment stemmed from the fact that they were fully booked and understaffed for it. The 20 minute long wait at the front desk was a damned shame. The pool was closed that evening on account of an incontinent young'un. But the pool reopened in the morning - and it's perhaps the best non-destination pool I've seen in a hotel ever. Impressive. So glad we stayed here. What a way to kick off the trip.
