Pavement to our rental was so uneven with loose gavel on roadway, out tires kept spinning out. The drive was extremity steep. Much more than expected. Every time we left the drive the bumper bottomed out. After two trips the bumper was cracked, scratched and popped out. The engine protector broken. NOTHING in the description gave a warning. When I contacted customer service they said, their was nothing they could do. Beyond telling me to angle my van into the drive. Hard to do when you're spinning out and rolling backward. In addition, the renter insurance wouldn't cover damages or early check out. DON'T RENT FROM THIS COMPANY.
We stayed at Rustic Elegance Cabin for 4 nights October 9 -13th. The area around the cabin is beautiful and well wooded. The area is very quiet and relaxing and the porch was a wonderful place to sit and enjoy nature. The cabin was spotlessly clean and contained everything we needed. We had an issue with the hot tub when we arrived and with a leak in the kitchen on another day and the maintenance staff fixed the problems almost immediately. I would highly recommend this cabin and Aunt Bug's to anyone looking for a cabin rental in or around Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. My only suggestion to Aunt Bug's would be to add a grab bar to the shower in the Master bedroom, bathroom and repair the holes in the bathroom wall near the shower.
First off let me say that the Gatlinburg / Pigeon Forge / National Park area is beautiful and we had a lot of fun visiting.
The people at Aunt Bug's checkin were friendly and helpful.
The cabin is a nice size and it is somewhat secluded. There was plenty of space for my family of 5 to decompress. However, the main reason for renting a cabin and not a hotel room was because we wanted to save money cooking. We did not utilize the kitchen because the first day there, we discovered mouse poop in multiple kitchen utensil drawers. We notified Aunt Bug's (who we rented through) and we were told that someone from housekeeping would be right there to clean the drawers and utensils. No one ever came, for 5 days, no one came to address the issue. We understand that in the woods you may have mice, but we did not want to spend our vacation time sanitizing the kitchen and all the utensils.... especially not knowing if the mouse was coming back or not. Very disappointing.
Second, the cabin is advertised as having a pool table and video game. The kids enjoyed both of these, but adults should know that the pool table is quite worn and there are no tips on the sticks. The video game has no volume control and is very loud. Since it is in the open loft, it can be heard throughout the cabin.
Third, the driveway is quite steep. I don't think our minivan could have made it up into the driveway, thankfully we had rented an SUV. Note that if you are bringing more than one car, you may have an issue with partking (tight fit).
Fourth, the grill needs to be replaced. The grill is filthy and raggedy.
This cabin is in a great location but needs cleaning and work. There was supposed to be a spare key to use according the instructions to which there was not so when we reported issues and the maintenance team came out they were not happy because we were out and they had to come back. The upstairs shower has no water pressure and the Hot Water in the entire cabin is good for one shower. When you have 4 adults 3 of them had to take cold showers even waiting an hour between. The upstairs toilet would not flush when we arrived and when the maintenance man came an repaired he got crap on the walls and floor and just left. The light over the table has dead bugs in all the globes, the ceiling fans are covered in dust, the blower on the fireplace was so noisy you could not hear the TV, and there was mold in the dishes in the cabinets. You would think for the kind of money you are paying that the cleanup crew would do a better job of checking out the cabin prior to the guest arrival.
