This tucked away restaurant has a great atmosphere. It was quiet, peaceful, and we had a nice view out of the restaurant windows. I've had the shrimp scampi and the shrimp alfredo with their delicious vegetables as a side. Both main entrees tasted good, but those vegetables were absolutely amazing. For dessert, I tried the brownie with ice cream and chocolate syrup. It was pretty good. You could tell that the brownie was homemade, but it would have helped if it tasted fresher. It was a pretty great experience; I'm glad we found the place.

We love trying new places when we travel and try never to eat at the same place twice on any given trip. So on our last night in Gatlinburg we decided to try Greenbrier. We loved that it was a little out of the way and the building had some real character. The host was quick to seat us and the waitress was promptly at the table to take our drink orders. We were seated in an area that looked sort of like a sunroom...long and narrow with large windows looking out on the woods. Pretty view. The attentive service and the view turned out to be the best part of our evening. The restaurant needs a little TLC...at least the area where we were sitting. The carpet seams were covered with colored tape, for example. So some updating would help. The french onion soup was good. The salad, so-so. The steaks weren't cooked right...one was almost raw (asked for medium) and the other well done (asked for medium). The manager was quick to respond and took the rare steak back as soon as he was told about it. It came back a little better, but still not medium. To be fair, I am sure that if we had asked, it would have been taken back, cooked a bit more, and brought back. But how many times should a steak have to be sent back? We decided that we would just go ahead and finish up and call it a day.
So, good marks for service, but the decor and food was a real disappointment.

The food was decent, though I found the menu to be a bit lacking for vegetarians. Excellent Caesar salad. Slow but good service, our waitress was French and very accommodating. The view from the windows was great. Exactly the kind of relaxing place I had been looking to eat at in Gatlinburg. My biggest complaint is that they blared unfortunate saxophone tracks on repeat the whole evening. It felt like I was stuck listening to elevator music.

We were thoroughly pleased with the food, price and service. We wanted to take it out, so we could eat and enjoy the view from out chalet. We didn't have to wait long, but we sat in the bar and enjoyed talking to the bartender about the history of the cabin the restaurant was set in and the area in general. Can't say enough about how wonderful our experience was!!!
