“Winter getaway”
Reviewed 5 March 2014 via mobile

My husband and I wanted to get away for a few days and since the winter seems to be persistent this year we opted for the mountains instead of the beach. When we arrived the temp was in the 70's but the next day a winter storm blew in and we had snow and cold. Enjoyed the wood burning fireplace in our room. Plenty of wood and starter was provided. We also hiked down to the private creek where they have a pavilion and fireplace. We did not want to hike back up the hill since it was kind of wet so we called the front desk and they promptly sent a ATV buggy down to pick us up. Only complaint is that the wireless internet did not work in our building so we had to do any online activity in the main lodge (which was not a bad place to hang out, but just a little inconvenient). Breakfast each morning was good and the staff was excellent. The property is in a great location.

Thank you for sharing your comments. We are so glad that you decided to come to the Smokies instead of the beach and got to experience a great winter getaway! We are sorry that your stay was less than ideal due to our WiFi. Please note that we are just weeks away from a fantastic upgrade to fiber-delivered internet service. The high-speed WiFi will be available for you next time you come to stay. We look forward to welcoming you back for your next adventure here in the mountains!

My gril friend and I had a very disappointing stay!!! the cleaning people entering the room without knocking or ringing the door bell need to be adressed....as well as the guest that were running up and down the stairs at all hour of the night and being very loud vocally...We could have stay at the Best Western for a lot less with these issues.... I think the menu needs to be addressed ....they say they are family oriented, but I do not know of child that would eat what they had on the menu for dinner.... we also had a long time to weight... other dinner was at 5:30 and it was 7:30 before we got back to our room ... we could have got a better dinner at the Cracker Barrel with a much more serving size..for a lot least price...they served us more bread and water then anything.. our bath room towels had holes..bed linen had holes.. I would not recommend to anyone to stay here

Room Tip: Did not know any place here at this lodge

Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent stay with us. Please accept our apologies that your stay was less than exceptional.

We wish that you had brought the excessive noise to our attention that night. We would have addressed the issue at that time.

Our Housekeeping Manager has addressed your concerns with the housekeeping staff and we apologize for any inconvenience caused. Our staff certainly would have quickly replaced any inferior linens, had we known about it when you first noticed. We have received many accolades on the quality of our rooms and linens, as well as the service provided by our housekeeping staff, and are very sorry that you did not have the same experience.

Regarding our Restaurant Menu being “family oriented”… we do have a children’s menu available. As your party included just two adults, our servers would not have presented you with a children’s menu unless it was specifically requested. We pride ourselves on offering a unique dining experience in a continental style; to offer our guests the opportunity to take the time to relax and thoroughly enjoy their dinner and their time with their companions.

We look forward to the opportunity to welcome you back and ensure that your next stay is more according to our standards and yours.

My husband and I spent three days here last week. We were snowed in one day, but still able to reach the Gatlinburg ski resort for some fun. Best part about this resort is the secluded feel, yet still very accessible to downtown Gatlinburg and the ski resort; both only minutes away. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, food was excellent. We will be back!

Room Tip: Premium suites worth it for the view and privacy!

We had business in the area and were lucky enough to get a room ... on Valentine's Day. What a treat. Our first night we stayed in a room on the 3rd floor. It was a very large suite with lovely rustic finishes. We were delighted to find a small kitchen and avoid crowds dining on Valentine's. We loved the Lodge so much we booked an extra night. We had to change rooms to the 2nd floor. Still nice and large but preferred 3rd floor. 3rd floor rooms have outstanding views, wood burning fireplaces and no noise from above. We enjoyed a lovely walk to the creek. IT IS A MUST ! You can walk or get a ride but there is a fire pit, gazebo with a fireplace. We should have taken a cooler with our evening cocktails. Will know next time. Breakfast was good as well. Eggs, bacon, grits, bagels, fruits, yogurts, pastries. We didn't get to eat dinner at the Lodge because they were booked but menu looked great. This is a new favorite place for us.

I planned a company meeting at this lodge, and everyone (18 people) loved the location. All the rooms are equipped with fireplaces and kitchenettes, perfect if you come here and don't want to leave your room! The rooms could use better soundproofing, but overall I was pleased with my two-night stay. From housekeeping to reception, the staff was extremely helpful and happy to engage in conversation about the property, Gatlinburg, etc.

Room Tip: Get a third-floor room for no overhead noise and a wood-burning fireplace.

We enjoyed an extended weekend at the Lodge...accommodations were nice, food was delicious, but that creek!! Oh my, the peace and tranquility was ahhhhh.......just what we needed. We went in October when the leaves were still changing...perfect time for that outdoor fireplace at the foot of the trail to the creek.
