My husband and I are repeat guests to the Lodge. Over Memorial weekend we spent four nights in a premium unit watching the tram cars go up and down the mountain. The staff is wonderful, especially Helen, who went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful. The Lodge has new building plans for additional rooms and a gathering area. Our favorite morning time is having breakfast on the wrap-around porch listening to the birds and looking at the mountains. No need for recorded music, let nature entertain you. Delicious homemade scones and other danish are included in the room rate along with bagels, coffee, juice, apples and oranges. A limited breakfast menu with eggs and pancakes can be ordered for an additional charge. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Our room was spacious with a working fireplace, full kitchen, Jacuzzi and balcony. We parked next to the steps going to our room on the third floor. It is an easy drive into Gatlinburg going the back road bringing you to the upper side of the main street avoiding some of the traffic. We love the peace and quiet the Lodge offers, the kindness of the staff, and knowing our vacation time is well-spent here.

Room Tip: Third floor rooms offer great views.

Arriving on a Monday and having to leave on Tuesday morning, we missed out on the best amenities of the hotel. No restaurant open and no rides available to go to and from the creek. Having a hip issue, walking a mile on uneven terrain wasn't an option. I think I did read on the web site that the restaurant isn't open on Sunday or Monday but I don't remember reading about the transportation down to the shelter at the creek not being available on those days as well. I had requested spa services on our reservation and was expecting a call to schedule that. Never got a call. It was on my bill with a zero dollar value. We had a nice room but not sure why AAA gave it a 4star rating. Doesn't compare to other AAA 4star resorts I've been to. Nice enough though and rates were good.

Thank you for taking the time to offer a review. Your comments prompted a review of procedures here, and we have changed some of them. We are very sorry that we disappointed you in regards to in-room spa services. We can only offer deep apologies for our failure to fully follow-through on your request, and tell you that we have put a new procedure/policy in place to prevent a recurrence.
Regarding the restaurant hours: they are seasonal, and vary with some holidays. During the summer, we are open M-Sat. Please check in the lobby for current hours, posted at the front desk.
The times for rides in our Pinzgauers may vary, but we offer transportation back up from the creekeside pavilion during the hours that it is open. Just check with the front desk when you are here to verify that a weather event or wildlife has not changed the availability of the trail, pavilion, and transportation services.

The lodge and rooms are well designed, clean and convenient- but far away enough from the tackiness of the town. The service is slow, both for dinner and room requests, but everyone was very nice. Dinner was good but nothing special and expensive. Don't bother ordering a mixed drink, there is no bartender and they have a very limited selection of alcohol. Despite the shortcomings mentioned, I travel a lot and based on what I saw this is by far the best spot in the area.

The resort is quaint and well-maintained, the food is great, and the staff could not be more accommodating. We were only there for about 24 hours, from noon to noon, but they took care of our every need and gave us excellent advice on how to best use our time. We definitely hope to return for a much longer stay sometime in the very near future.

We stopped here on our way to Nashville for our one year wedding anniversary vacation. The staff was wonderful, the room was awesome, but the views are even better. It is tucked away from the crazy tourism of down town Gatlinburg, and very relaxing. Definitely worth the detour.

We just completed a four day, three night stay at the Lodge. Everything was perfect. Suite was pristine clean. View gorgeous. Food and service perfect. We liked it so much, we went ahead and made reservations for the fall.

Had a great time! We traveled to the lodge just a week ago and it was perfect timing, we heard the Smoky Mts were very crowded so we went mid May before Memorial Day and kids out of school, which worked out great! This all-suite luxury stay in the Smoky Mountains was Beautiful! Great suite with your own private balcony, the views were just breath taking, the restaurant was great with a outside dinning that was so nice! They have a trail that ends at the Buckberry creek and a beautiful pavilion with a fireplace and with lots of places to relax and also restrooms! The staff was so great they will drive you down and pick you back up if you don’t want the hike down - well one day it was raining & kinda cool so we asked to be taken down - when we got there (we were the only ones) they had a great fire started just for us - Loved It!!

Room Tip: Top Floor for the views!!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Lodge at Buckberry Creek has brought the elegance of the “Great Camps” of the Adirondacks to the pristine beauty of the Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee. Designed to reflect the retreats created in the Adirondack Mountains over 100 years ago by some of the East Coast’s wealthiest families, Buckberry Lodge pampers guests with the true natural grandeur of the Adirondack architectural style. Nestled away high above Gatlinburg, Tennessee, The Woods building offers 14 luxury-suite rooms from 600 square feet to 750 square feet. Rooms feature fireplaces, private balconies, bathrooms with separate showers and Jacuzzi tubs. The majority of our suites have a King bed but we do have a few rooms with 2 Double beds. Rest, recharge, and relax within your suite or enjoy the area attractions of Gatlinburg and the Great Smoky Mountains. Our property is less than 2 miles from the entrance of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and all the beauty it holds. We are also less than 2 miles from Downtown Gatlinburg. There is a firepit which overlooks Mt. LeConte – a great spot to unwind & relax. Although we have experienced a great loss since the November 28th fire, we are very fortunate to have The Woods building to share with our guests. We look forward to welcoming you to The Lodge at Buckberry Creek for your Smoky Mountain lodging destination! ... more   less
