“The Lodge at Buckberry Creek”
Reviewed 11 August 2014

We stayed at the Lodge at the beginning of summer break. Beautiful location but definitely not worthy of the cost to stay at the lodge. The room/suite was rustic as expected with this location. The caveat to the stay was the continential breakfast--very disappointing. I understand continential means a limit amount of offerings but honestly, for the amount we paid, I expected more than packets of no name brand instant oatmeal. There was not even bread for toast only bagels. The staff was not helpful at all and only paid attention to paying guest on the premise for a hot breakfast. Again, very disappointing for our entire family.

We are sorry that you were disappointed in the breakfast. As a result of reviews like this and comments by our guests, we have made some changes to our breakfast offerings, and continue to make adjustments to suit our guests.

This is a lovely setting and the accommodation is of a high standard. The staff were welcoming and the restaurant is excellent. On the down side we wanted to order some wine to the room during afternoon and were told this was not possible as nobody with a licence was on site!!
We then ordered cookies and milk for the children only to be told that they were also not available. There is only very limited options to eat and drink if you remain in the lodge. It was a shame that things that were on the list were then not made available. Also our room was not serviced, whilst we received apologies for this, nobody actually serviced the room. This is poor service for a highly rated establishment.
Would also note that Gatlinburg is not a quaint mountain village, but very commercial.

Room Tip: Top floor rooms get the best of the views.

Thank you for your review. We hope that you enjoyed your stay overall, and are pleased that you enjoyed the views and the proximity to the National Park.
Some notes for everyone reading your comments:
We do provide wine for our guests, but only sell it when the restaurant is open. If you request wine in your room on a Sunday for that same day, we would not be able to fulfill your request. If you are ever interested in having wine in your room, contact us in advance to arrange it to be in your room prior to your arrival.
Cookies are baked to order so that they are fresh and warm. We do offer them, but cannot produce them on demand, we need several minutes.
Housekeepers knock on doors, and if the room is occupied, will ask about service. If they are told "no service is needed", they will not come back later. They will come back if they are asked to return later in the day.

Hotel rated No. 1 by Tripadvisor and with good reasonIn Gatlinburg, Pidgeon Forge, this is place to stay. Room rate is 239.00 per night which is very reasonable considering the view of rooms, your up in the mountains and each room has a balcony, very rustic. Fridge, oven, dishwasher if your with a family. Did not try restaurant but looks good. Have stayed here before and was excellent. First night was slight fog over mountains, deep forest and had a Jurassic Park feel to it. A gem. No. 1 well deserved. Private location, away from commercial excess of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, Great Smoky Mountain park is great and so is further south, the North Carolina side is VERY GOOD and lots of white water activity, more pristine. I am guessing Buckberry in the park.
Gorgeous setting.

Room Tip: End rooms like 1305 and 1205 and 1105 are suites, 2 double beds and queen roll out. Fairly big and r...

Thank you for your comments and high regard for our hotel in the Smoky Mountains. Our property does adjoin the National Park land. The owners worked hard to maintain the environmental esthetics of the land when they built this hotel in 2005. Watching the clouds roll in and out is a special "show" on a foggy day!
A note to future guests reading the room tip: Our suites with 2 double beds are on the ends of the buildings, but some end rooms have king beds instead.

We stated at the lodge from July 30-August 2 and had an excellent time. We booked a gallery suite, which had two rooms, two Queen beds, and a pullout sofa. Beds were extremely comfortable. The bathroom was huge and included a wonderful jacuzzi and a large shower with a bench to sit on. The atmosphere of the room was rustic yet luxurious and had a fireplace to top it off. We had a balcony with an incredible view of the smokies. The restaraunt has incredible food, wait staff is a little aloof but that's the only complaint. Staff is very friendly. I would recommend stayig here, as it is far enough away from the hoopla of pigeon forge, but close enough to visit there and very close to many mountain activities. The view from Sundowner's Perch is incredible. Highly recommended.

We are so glad that you stayed with us during your travels, and that you enjoyed our Lodge. We are sorry that the wait staff came across as "aloof". They strive to be very professional in our fine dining environment, but they are all very accommodating and appreciate our guests.
A small note of clarification: The reviewer mentioned their room having 2 beds. Some of our suites do have 2 double (full size) NOT queen beds.

Beautiful lodge in a relaxing location. Liked that it was not on the strip but still close enough to visit. Met a lot of very nice people. Especially liked sitting out on the deck in the evening enjoying the sunsets and talking to other guests. The free breakfast was much more than just continental and the whole family loved it. The staff was also great. I am not a huge fan of Gatlinburg but we will probably come back to stay here.

A lovely luxurious lodge high up in the Smokey Mountains, with great views of the mountains and peaceful quietness.

Rooms lovely, very well equipped, breakfast included was great as too were the staff, very attentive.

Perfect getaway, with lots to do in the surrounding areas.

Few minor issues were internet issues when we arrived, that we had to sort out ourselves by ringing their IT guy!!!! & TV's should be updated and wall mounted

Other than that we enjoyed our stay and we'd highly recommend this place

Thank you for sharing your thoughts in a review. We look forward to see you again!
A couple of notes:
TVs are all being upgraded this summer.
We recently had our wifi internet service upgraded to fiber-delivered high speed. Part of that upgrade was that technical support for our guests is now 24/7 through a professional company that specializes in service for hotel guests, and all their many variations of equipment and needs. When this guest spoke to "their IT guy", they were actually speaking to one of many trained professionals (located here in the US) that work for our vendor to assist guests in getting particular device(s) connected properly to the network they maintain worldwide.
