“Great Location”
Reviewed 14 August 2012

We just returned from 5 nights at the Edgewater. Yes, the elevators can be a little slow at times, but overall a great stay. It's better to get to breakfast early so as to avoid the late rush. Rooms are fine, we had a great view facing town. Will stay there again next time down there.

We have stayed 3 times at Edgewater. The location is perfect: you are one building down from the Aquarium and a very short walk to downtown and all that it offers. The rooms are always clean and the staff is always pleasant and helpful. We enjoy the view of the river and mountains from our room (we try to get a room on the front side of hotel for the best view). Prices are reasonable. As other reviewers have noted, the two problems are the slow elevator and a very cramped parking garage - however, neither is enough of a difficulty to keep us from returning to The Edgewater on our next trip to Gatlinburg.

Room Tip: The rooms on the front side of the hotel have nice view of the river and mountains.

This was our 3rd stay in the past year at Edgewater. We like to stay here when we plan to do walking in Gatlinburg. It is SO convenient!

Room was, and has always been at each visit, very clean. We had no complaints at all. The bedding smelled very fresh, microwave and fridge were clean, and the bathroom was spotless. Even the balcony was clean enough that we could hang our wet clothes on the rail. The mattresses are very good. I wish I had asked them what kind they are as they are very comfortable. Flat screen TV is very nice. They have warm breakfast in the morning. We were there 3 days and the items varied. They always have waffles, bagels, doughnuts, bisquits and gravy, etc. One day they had sausage and another they had eggs, etc. It isn't bad food, and super great to be included in the room price. Check-in was a breeze, as was the check-out process. No problems at all. I had a few questions pertaining to their frequent visitor program and they were easily able to address anything. Oh, and another nice item is that they have underground parking. SUPER nice if it's raining and you are trying to unload the car. The river runs right in front of the hotel and we saw some people fishing (not sure about the fishing license policy, so I would check!).

The only thing that needs to be improved is the elevator. I think it's just older so it goes a bit slow. We have requested rooms closer to the main floor, so it's much faster for the elevator to come, or we take the stairs. However if you are on the upper floors, then be prepared to wait, especially if it's the weekend or a holiday.

Overall, we really like this hotel and will absolutely stay here again.

Room Tip: Make sure to request a room on the river side. You'll pay a bit more but the balcony view is bea...

Just stayed at The Edgewater in Gatlinburg for a second time in years. I still think it is a great value. The rooms were absolutely spotless. The staff was extremely polite. The free breakfeast was as good as any restaurants. I give it A FIVE STAR.

I think overall our stay at the hotel was good/average. The location of the hotel is good, the atmosphere and views are generally nice, and the staff seem to be at least somewhat friendly. With that said, what was probably the biggest inconvenience was the elevators. I have read some responses from the hotel on here saying they upgraded the elevators, but if they are upgraded, I would hate to see how they were before. It is not that they are slow, but two elevators for a hotel of this size with the number of floors is not really ideal (to say the least). The parking is very cramped with huge poles taking up a large part of most of the parking spaces and low clearances. I know the hotel considers parking 'complimentary', but lets face it - parking is 'complimentary' at most hotels so that's not exactly a perk. The WiFi internet is free which is nice, but it is slow, but that's not a problem unique to this hotel. We did not eat at the hotel so cannot comment on that. The pool and jacuzzi area seemed to be fine, but several of the vending machines were 'out of order'. I think overall the hotel does need some work and I'm not sure if we'd pick it again, but it was overall a fairly pleasant visit.

My family and I had the opportunity to stay at the Edgewater Hotel on Friday, July 27, 2012. Having stayed, at one time or another, in almost every hotel in Gatlinburg, I can happily report that the Edgewater property stands out as one of the absolute best. When you add its location into the mix, it is second to none - smack dab in the middle of everything Gatlinburg (a couple hundred feet from the Strip and next door to Ripley's Aquarium). I heartily recommend it for anyone considering a place to stay in Gatlinburg.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the river!!!

Took the whole family to Gatlinburg for the night and chose to stay at the Edgewater Hotel. The location is on River Road just off the strip, but perfectly in the middle of Gatlinburg. You could walk to anywhere you wanted within 5 - 10 minutes which was awesome. The hotel staff was extremely helpful and very accommodating. All in all, it was a great place to stay and a great time for our family.
