The Edgewater Hotel & Conference Center is located right on River Road next to the haunted mansion. You can walk to the Aquarium and along the main strip in the matter of minutes. The staff was extremely friendly and the cleaning crew was quick - we left to go to breakfast and when we came back, our room was clean.
When I say not as advertised, the brochure I got said "full service restaurant" and "creek side dining" - They no longer have the restaurant open. That was a huge inconvenience to us when we arrived starving with cranky (hungry) 2 year old around 9PM and when we wanted to have lunch at the hotel the following day before heading out to Dollywood.
The morning we left was around 5AM, there was no coffee. The gentleman at the front desk said they was still some leftover decaf - I asked when it was left over from and he said "from the previous morning" - Ick! No thank you. I understand that they have breakfast brought in but to not even have coffee?!
Parking is tight! We have a Honda Pilot - so not a giant SUV and we parked in the SUV lot not the car lot. However we all know how many people never park center in their spot. This is a huge inconvenience when you want to open your doors to get out of your vehicle. The good thing is, Parking is in a covered garage which is a bonus.
We had a creek side room, 2 queens - basically your standard room. The beds were comfortable, electric outlets were scarce. We needed to plug in 3 phones - had to unplug lights to do so. The balcony was nice but I did not like the fact that the only "lock" was a flimsy metal arm that went down. I will say, the hotel was clean and so was our room except the nasty hinges in the bathroom were disgusting (it wouldn't take much to clean them up) and there was a stain on the desk chair and floor that were really icky, and the AC/Heater vent was GROSS. For a hotel with great potential, I don't know why the staff wouldn't take a moment to spot clean heavily soiled areas.
All in all, the hotel was safe, the staff was friendly and it was nice to rest your head. However, we will go back to another place up the road that was much nicer for around the same price.
