I'd be careful booking this property; it's photos and descriptions are from long ago. It now is in poor condition, located just a few feet from a busy highway, former neighboring businesses are boarded up; other Gatlinburg attraction are some distance away; room is not clean; furniture is dirty and broken; noise from adjacent room can be easily heard; office is rarely staffed. You get the idea. With so many other fine accomodations available in this area, give Rocky Waters a pass.

Located down at the bottom of the hill in Gatlingburg across the street from the famous Hilbilly Golf. This area is off of the main drag but is still close enough to walk the streets of Gatlinburg, or you can take the trolley! We took the trolley to Dollywood which is located over in Pigeon Forge (2.00) saved a lot of money from parking at Dollywood which is at least 10.00 per vehicle.

This is an older motel. Nice balcony over the creek. Lighting is not very good, it is pretty dark in the evenings. Room was clean, comfortable, had tv, phone, microwave and coffee maker.

One thing that I was surprised at was the lack security. Although we felt safe, there were no chains on the doors and the keys to the doors were the plastic flat pieces with the holes in them unlike the modern electronic keys now used by most motels. The back door at the balcony and the door between the room next door only had a single deadbolt and bedroom lock.

Overall, the room was fair for the price for Gatlinburg, probably better than most, but you get what you pay for, it is a little rustic and outdated, but hey, you can't beat this one for spending a night or two!

My husband and I stayed at Rocky Waters on our Honeymoon, August 1975 and have stayed there many times since then, although not recently. We did stay there for one night, May 22. It was a good trip. Room was clean, listening to the river outside is wonderful! Any upgrades they have made have been minimal. Problems with hot water also, but wasn't a big problem. Room rate was good. Would stay there again.

I was somewhat disappointed with the room it was clean but very small. We tried to get aquarium tickets from the desk and was informed that they didn't have any. When we asked about the continental breakfast we were told that we would have to walk around the block to the Days Inn (it's their other building) to get our breakfast. (very irritating) The hot water takes forever to get hot then when you get in the shower the water pressure is low. We froze and burned up at night because the heater in our room would stifle us with hot air one minute then blow out cold air the next. We could not get the temperature adjusted so we ended up just turning it off most of the time. The staff was nice enough, the room rate was decent but I will not stay here again.

We rented a King Jacuzzi Suite for $290.90 for 2 nights. We were told to come back at 1:30pm and our room would be ready. We went to eat and came back at 1:30 to find the maid cleaning our room. We ended up having to wait 30 more minutes to get into our room. The room was clean but not well maintained (peeling paint & wallpaper, back door warped and in need of adjustment. The balcony overlooking the river is the only real reason to stay here. Needless to say, it is awesome. They provide firewood for the in room fireplaces. It all appeared to be dry on the outside, but just wouldn't burn. Fire starter logs and matches are supposed to be provided in room, but we had to walk to the office and ask for ours. They have full cable TV, but all the channels were really snowy. The jacuzzi was nice, but the faucet was really loose (it didn't affect the jacuzzi experience, just another example of needed maintainence). With a little much needed renovation and slightly lower off-season pricing I would have given 4 stars. The balcony overlooking the river is the only reason I did not score this place 2 stars.

The room was cozy and with the fireplace it was even more so. The balcony had a great view over looking the water, it was just too cold to enjoy. The room was nice for 2 people and it was clean and well kept. The location is a little off the beaten path and it's a good walk too the strip but good exercise. Also the highway is a little noisy early in the morning with the work traffic. The rooms remind me of what you would expect to see in the mountains of Tennessee, not fancy, but nice.
