The walking trails are through the woods and an enjoyable hike. If you are lucky you can spot wildlife, like baby deer. The visitor center has great exhibits, and if you ask, they will pull out cannonballs for your kids to hold and talk about the different sized cannons and cannon balls. The free tram tour is excellent. The information is different than what you can read through the park, and the guide does a great job of answering questions. A hit with my kindergarten son, toddler and us parents too.

This military park is very scenic. There are multiple trails that you can walk, bike, or even walk with your dog. We saw several people take their dogs on a walk. The tram tour provided by the historical museum is excellent. They take you on a tour around the entire park and they talk about the major battles and historical tidbits along the way.
My only complaint is the historical museum. They have lovely looking artifacts, but you can't read anything about them because they keep the lighting on the exhibits very dim. I can't figure out why because we've been to several other museums (including the Smithsonian) and none of them keep their exhibits this dark.

This battle, which lasted about two and a half hours, with more than 6000 troops engaged, was the third significant battle in less than six months, which sealed the fate of the British army under Lord Cornwallis. While technically a victory for the British because they retained command of the field, it was a pyric victory because Cornwallis lost more than 25% of his forces which could not be replaced. It was the end of his Carolina adventure and seven months later all was lost for the British at Yorktown. The battlefield park is extensive and has a driving trail where you can listen to narratives at selected points on your cellphone. There are numerous markers, monuments, etc., to give you a flavor of the battle. The visitor center, as usual, is great with videos about the battle and the staff is always eager to help.

Very good visitors center with short films to provide basic background on events leading up to and through the battle. The park was conducive to driving with many stops pertaining to the battle. A lot of people use the park for walking / running.

233 years ago my GGGG Grandfather served in the Colonial Army and fought in this terrible costly battle.

Like his general he was wounded and cared for that day by Quakers a couple miles away. He survived and lived to raise a large family in KY.

The presentation of information and artifacts at this park is remarkable. It's informative interesting and fun for adults and kids alike.

The park iPhone tour brings the history to life. Don't miss this site.
