The lodge was 1960 style-old and tired. This needs some updating.
Not as elegant as Serena Lodges. But Wifi was great. The buffet lunch around the pool was wonderful. Colorful birds all over. Loved the pool with the swim up bar.
Bathroom is large, but thead bare towels and hot water from 6AM-9AM & 6PM -9PM make this just an average rating.

The screen door came off the track in my hand and we had to go and get someone to fix it. NO TELEPHONES IN ROOMS. This can be a MAJOR problem in case of emergency. For wake up calls: a person knocks on your door in the morning.
Room was not well maintained. Many light bulbs were missing. Carpet in rooms is old and grimy. do not walk around barefoot. Inside the rooms is a separate sitting area. Kind of strange layout.
This place needs a major updating.

Room Tip: We were in room 46 - overlooking the pool. Not far from reception area.

The Hotel is a bit smaller than soe others we visited, possibly duie to the less popular park it is in, but don't be deceived it is really lovely.
The room was huge and had two double beds and we had a small balcony outidsde with seating for two and the woldlife was right outsided the door, including Lizards, Buffalo and Waterbuck, as well as a host of birds and the Hyrax that seemed to live on the roof.
The main hotel area was clean and spaciious and the bar was exellent, as wad the restaraunt where we served by Robert, whose enthusiasm knows no bounds and who sees nothing as being too much trouble.
A very nice Hotel in a wonderful national Park.

rooms are large, nice and quite clean. food is completely western, no local Tanzanian food available. once you were seated you have to maintain the same table during all of your stay at this hotel. We found it less comfortable and in a way isolating, since it limits interference with other guests.

Stayed here for a night as part of a tour.

To access the rooms, you go down stairs and cross underneath the lobby. Two holes in the lobby floor overlooks two pools of standing water, I guess provided for animals and to attract them to come onto the lodge grounds. This creates a smell by the area which was not pleasant.

We were assigned to room 10, not too far away from the stairs up to the lobby area, it is a ground level room with slight elevation up from the actual ground being that we were on a slight incline. Room 10 shares a rondavel with room 9.

Outside our balcony about 100 feet into the bush was a watering hole. We saw an elephant and some antelopes drinking from it. The screen door to the balcony does not lock. None of the screens in any of the windows can lock. It is held closed with a magnet. In order to lock your windows would mean closing the glass panes.

There is a large foyer/sitting area once in the door. In our room, there were two queen beds and they asked if we needed a single, we declined. It was quite warm here and we were thankful for an overhead fan. The weird smell from the standing pools of water kind of pervade the room. The room was not well lit with limited table top space even though it was a somewhat spacious room. There was a fridge, safe, coffee/tea making amenities. We were triple occupancy and yet housekeeping only left 2 bottles of complimentary water.

The hairdryer was installed against the wall in the large and not well-lit bathroom. There were the usual toiletries and very limited counter space.

This wasn't one of the better Sopa lodges we stayed at and were glad it was only for one night.

Lunch the first day was served buffet style by the pool. Eating outside meant encountering curious and hungry wildlife. Various birds, monkeys, mongoose, squirrels and hyraxes hung around us.

Breakfast next morning was in-doors and also buffet style.

This lodge actually turned out to be one of our favourites on our ten day safari. The staff are so welcoming and friendly, the food is too, the rooms are large. On our first night we heard elephants nearby and in the morning there were elephant footprints outside our bedrooms. We had a really gorgeous lunch by the pool after a morning game drive and a herd of elephants was just on the other side of the grounds, easily visible with the naked eye. It's a wonderful peaceful friendly place which I wouldn't hesitate to recommend

Room Tip: You have to keep your veranda doors closed on the ground floor to ensure the little animals like squ...

Very simple, but nice. We had a problem with hot water, but it's Africa! Eating lunch by the pool was great and the buffet was pretty good. Lots of wildlife to be seen on site...squirrels, hyrax, monkeys, birds. Baby hyrax are the cutest! The design doesn't make the greatest use of space...the entrance room is empty and rather large. This lodge probably had the nicest dinner dining area of the 4 lodges we stayed in.

Room Tip: If a traveler has a disability or trouble walking, request a room closer to the dining/lobby area.

The usual Sopa Lodge chain comfort. All of their resorts in northern Tanzania (but they still prefer to say Tanganyka!) are quite similar in appearance, level of service and (unfortunately) price, as well.
