We recently spent two nights at Tarangire Safari Lodge and I can only echo what others have said, it is a lovely spot, breathtaking view, full of bird and animal life (there was a Scops Owl roosting in one of the tent entries, and warthogs and elephants out front in the morning!) I especially loved returning after a long day in the park and sitting out on the patio to watch the final rays of the sun going down over the river, with a beer and complimentary chips and popcorn. A little touch but it really was a great way to end the day. I must give a special shout-out to the proprietress, Annette. We had a bit of a mix up with our room (not TSL's fault, but my Tour Operator's.) To my great dismay we had been booked for our stay into bungalows instead of tents. I was heartbroken--as this was to be our only tented experience of the trip and I'd really looked forward to it. Annette clearly saw how disappointed I was and also saw that the rooms had been booked over six months ago. Although the lodge was full, Annette arranged for me to switch rooms with a tour group leader arriving later who would appreciate the "upgrade" to the bungalow. She even told let me choose which tent we wanted, from the one's held for that group. We choose #28, in the shade of a large Baobab and with a wonderful view. Hat's off to Annette and the wonderful, personalized service at TSL. I am already plotting a way to return :)

Room Tip: Tent #22 is the furthest from the main lodge with lots of animal activity. We were in Tent #28 which was shaded by a large baobab tree, keeping it cooler, and it had a great unobstructed river view.

You will see all the animals you need to see in this compact place. Save yourself loads of driving on bad roads and just do your safari here. The buffets and sitdown dinner were delicious. The staff is wonderful and very kind. The hotel is located inside the park and the view from high on a bluff is inspiring! You don't need to drive far to see animals and sometimes they are right outside your room! And at night the stars are magnificent! The tents are very comfortable and the cabanas are like a hotel room. I've been here twice and I'm sure I'll be back again.

Tarangire Safari Lodge is a beautiful permanent tented lodge with swimming pool and views overlooking the river valley. Our room was a permanent walk in canvas tent with beds, dressings table and full ensuite including hot running water and shower. It was wonderful to unwind sitting on our patio overlooking the valley and enjoying the music of the native birds around us. Had a good and very filling dinner in the open air lodge dining room which also has an adjacent very large open area lounge with comfortable upholstered seating overlooking the park. All the lodge staff are very friendly and helpful...lovely smiles. Complimentary wifi was available in the lounge area though initial connection was a bit dodgy. Charging station available at the bar area. Complimentary snacks were available on the patio overlooking the river valley just before sunset...what a lovely view. The only thing that was a minor inconvenience was awakening to the sound of a man snoring in the tented cabin next to us. Sounded like he was in the tent with us.

Our group of 5 stayed here recently during our safari. We only stayed for one night and wished we were here longer as everyone agreed it was the favorite lodge of the trip. The views were amazing and it was great to wake up in the tent in the morning and be surrounded by wildlife outside. The food was very good and the patio in the evening was an excellent way to end the day. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Would definitely stay here again and for longer next time!

My daughter and I had the great pleasure of staying here last month.
The elephants and giraffes were plentiful and surprisingly quiet after the running
herds of wildebeest and zebras seen elswhere in northern Tanzania.
The owners were incredibly accomodating and even sent the large gourds
we purchased in their wonderful and affordable gift shop home for us.
Watching the elephants in the evening from a very large fieldstone terrace
while sipping a beverage and complimentary savories was sublime.
A new option is an evening game viewing by vehicle or an early morning
walk to view nocturnal or morning hunters....consider it if you visit here.
