Our sixth trip to TSLodge and not our last. Breathtaking vista of the Tarangire River valley meets you after a cool tamarind juice upon arrival. Baobab and acacias shadow quaint tented rooms. Hot showers. Fabulous buffet style dining with full bar. A trip to Ngorongoro Crater easily done in a day. Then safari rides in this park--between the two you will have seen them all. The birding is fabulous. Expert night walks by trained guides. Massage parlor overlooking the river. Keep your zippers in tent tightly secured as the resident vervet monkeys are professional thieves. Lion growls will resonate the air at night and the red chested cuckoo will wake you in the AM. The GoAway bird will greet at the pool as you sip your gin and tonic after a morning's game drive. I would suggest a 3 day stay at minimum. This is too nice a place to have your tour operator book for just an overnight!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. A warm welcome awaited us, the manager made an effort to talk to guests in the evening and our tent was clean and comfortable. The food was a little on the average side, but there was plenty of it, served by very friendly staff. Highly recommend a massage - this massage table has the best view in the world.

Room Tip: All tents have an awesome view.

This was our first stop on our self-drive safari and we loved it. We arrived hot and after being welcomed with a refreshing drink shown to our tented lodge. The views were stupendous with a variety of animals to be seen. The manager, Annette was charming and all the staff were friendly and attentive.
We enjoyed the sundowners with snacks and the firepit. There was an excellent choice at the help yourself buffet with plenty of variety for the vegetarian.

We stayed here for 2 nights and we were a little underwhelmed. It was very, very hot and I was very disappointed that the pool looked very murky. Suprisingly some were in the pool but I would not take the chance. Power is on in the tents in the morning and evening and charging of devices can only be done in the main building which was not an issue. The bedding was 2 single beds which was not ideal.

We had stayed in some high level tented camps and in comparison this lodge is quite low end. While each tent is clean the tents are relatively small. The bathroom is adequate. As can be expected there are flying bugs in the area which make their way into the tent. There was no mosquito netting over each bed which we found to be present elsewhere. While the concept of the tent is nice in hindsight I would probably stay at either a higher level tented camp or a lodge such as a Sopa or Serena.

Hello Medic_5,
Thank you for your review! Always appreciate the feedback.
Happy to say, the pool is crystal clear again! and was murky due to treatment.

We are not in the high price range of some of the higher tented camps you stayed at.
We do have tents with large double beds so this certainly could have been arranged for you. Our netted screens provide sufficient bug control unless outside lights are left on inside.

Our aim is to provide a comfortable & unique experience in the wild.

Asante sana!

The perfect setting - awesome view, as they say - in one of the most beautiful parks I have visited. I was born and grew up in Kenya so I have visited most of the parks in Kenya and Tanzania, but had never been to Tarangire. The landscape is just beautiful, specially now when it was more green than brown due to recent rains. It was a garden of Eden, so many nice routes to go on and so much game to see. The bushes were full of birds and I have never seen so much game in 4 days.
We stayed in a tent with an amazing view of the river from our bed!!! When we arrived there were 2 big herds of elephants by the river to welcome us!!! Everything in the Lodge was excellent. The view over the African wilderness, the tent, the food - we booked half board so we had dinner,- the popcorn at sunset. I am a vegetarian and for once I felt that there was enough variety for vegetarians aswell. The food was really good and the service just perfect. All the staff so friendly and helpful. Everything worked to perfection....All I can say is a big well done to the owners, the management and all the staff.
We booked our accommodation and car+ driver through Serengeti Select Safaris. The booking was handled very professionally and we got the BEST DRIVER AND GUIDE possible. His knowledge of the bush, his quiet, patient character, the way he tried again and again to show us an animal which we could not see, his unbelievable eye for spotting lions far in the distance, his politeness and good driving...the list goes on..What can I say? We were sooooo lucky to have you with us Sammy and I really hope we can go off into the bush again some early morning in the near future!!! Without you our safari would not have been the same.

ps I would just like to make a point here, that it is necessary to make sure what you are getting when you rent a car so that no misunderstandings can take place.

I cannot recommend Tarangire Safari Lodge, with Sammy as your driver and guide, enough. As for Tarangire National Park , it is still a part of unspoilt Africa. You can drive for hours without seeing other cars and to see elephants in this days and age in their hundreds is a blessing.

Room Tip: There are tents on either side of the main reception/dining area. The ones on the right have better...

This was our first stop on the Safari and the views from the terrace and room were breathtaking.

Plenty of wildlife around as well.

Staff were friendly and the service and food quality were very high.

the one thing that was disappointing was no credit card facilities (even much smaller and more remote places were able to provide this) and it meant that we were unable to book the night safari as we did not have enough cash. We had tried calling from Australia to arrange before we left but they couldn't manage that either. This was a great pity for us as it was something we all wanted to do and it was the only location we could have.

Hello PeterBarras,
Thank you for your review! Happy you enjoyed your stay here.
I am sorry that you missed the Night Drive activity on account of the payment system! Pity indeed.
We do have credit card facilities but for these Bush Walks & Night Drives we are collecting on behalf of the Park Authorities so we are only able to accept cash for this.
Thanks again for your review.
Hope the rest of your trip in Tanzania was memorable!

Welcome again!/Karibu tena!

Kind regards,

Tarangire Safari Lodge remains one of my favourite places to stay. We took my mum, who was visiting us in Tanzania, to stay for 3 nights over the weekend. The safari around the park was great, and we got to see many animals (4 of the big five!), and so enjoyed listening to all the noises during the night whilst in the tents. The accommodation and service is outstanding. I love to be able to just sit in the lounge and read during the day, and look out over the amazing scenery.
