I loved every place we stayed during our safari (Thanks Good Earth Tours), but this place . . . WOW. The staff couldn’t have been friendlier or more attentive. The grounds & view were spectacular. The tent was very nice & can I say so African? Dining/food was beyond great.
I never worried about the tent not locking. There was security walking the paths for wildlife protection. They were always there ready with a huge Jambo!!

Only down side was we safaried day & night, so less time to fully enjoy the lodge.
We did, however, manage drinks with sunset @ the overlook that included elephants, giraffes, zebras (in that order) coming to do their drinking. All that with monkeys scampering around us. Oh, and sunrise brought birds singing, dik-diks peeking at us from behind our tent. This was a photographers dream!

This lodge is a must stay while visiting Tarangire, I guarantee it!

A friend and I brought a group to stay here last year and did the same this year. We decided to stay two nights this year to give everyone more time to relax and enjoy the lodge. I will definitely do the same again next time.

I would like to say a big asante sana to Annette. One of my group members had some mobility issues so Annette ensured the nearest tent to reception was reserved for her. Also, three members of my group had arrived at Kilimanjaro airport and discovered their bags hadn’t made the same journey. When Annette heard about this she organised some new underwear for the unlucky three and also offered a fleece to take with us when we left if the bags hadn’t arrived (on the understanding our tour operator would return it when next in the park). She also sent some paperwork to our tour operator to help with getting the bags from the airline.

The buffet style meals were excellent. There was always plenty of tasty options, even for our vegetarians.

All the staff here were nice but I would like to make special mention of John in the restaurant. He seemed to make an extra effort for our group and we appreciated it very much.

I'm looking forward to another return visit!

Hello kelstarama,
Thank you for your review and happy to hear your return visit will bring you back again!
A very warm welcome!
I hope your baggage caught up with your group?
(Because our "winter" has begun, eager for that jacket from the tour operator - can you remind me the company name/details?)

Great to hear the meals were appreciated And will pass on your complimentary remarks to John.

A very big "Asante sana! & Karibu tena!"

We stayed at this lodge for 2 nights, since Tarangire was part of our safari trip wonderfully organized by Swala Safaris. And I have to say that Swala chose very well! This place is amazing: the food and service were excellent and the view just magnificent. We didn't sleep in one of the tents, but in a stonework little lodge and I must say it was one of the best on our trip. And since the place is in the middle of the national park we could hear all nights the sounds of animals around us, in particular lion and hyena. When we were coming back to our lodge from dinner from the main building, we saw an elephant only 50 metres away feasting on a tree, but it paid us no attention at all. The lodge has a swimming pool, and it looked very inviting, but we returned quite late from the safari and didn't use it. All in all, a great place for a great experience.

We stayed for 3 nights here during our 2 week safari.
The biggest thing going for this lodge is the location. We were in tents 21 and 22 - which were the last 2 tents in one side of the camp - and these had amazing views. I could sit on my patio and watch elephants, zebras, giraffes, *enormous herds of buffalo*, wildebeest, warthogs come and drink water in the Tarangire river. We even heard a lion attack a zebra - though it was a bit out of range to see. At night we heard the roar of lions and the next morning - were the second car to get to the place where the lions had made an overnight kill and a whole pride was feasting on 2 carcasses.
Other features of this lodge: Pretty good food in the restaurant, attentive service
Cons: *Awful* boxed lunch - and we had to take this 3 days in row. The sandwich had bread that seemed like it was 3 days old and very little was edible.
Other tip: We also went on their night safari. While we did see a porcupine, the wild cat, ostrich, some owls, an eagle owl, jeanettes and spring hare. This was not a good value for money. The trip lasts 1.5 hours and is very expensive (~75$/person). The first row of the vehicle they take you out in, has pretty low seats and so, if you're short, you're out of luck (and they put 3 people into each row - so not every person gets a "window" spot - there is no real window - as the truck is open to the elements).

Hello ManiMa,
Thank you for sharing your review!
Happy you enjoyed our location.
And thank you for the feedback - always appreciated.
I did ask about the bread for the lunchboxes and it is made fresh daily. Will check on the flour / baking.
And re. the night drives, the preference for Group size is 6 and this is printed on the Flyer. It is ideal for each guest to have a "window" seat.
If 5 or more guests, the price is $65 per person plus the shared Ranger fee of $20 and we agree it is not cheap. TANAPA claims most of this fee.
