We had the pleasure to stay at Rikitikitavi for 2 nights in April and we wished we were there for longer. Friends recommedned this place based on a meal they ate there and we were not disappointed. The rooms are a great size and well furnished. There's lots of useful information about Kampot and Cambodia in each room. The staff were great fun and very friendly and helpful. Even before we arrived Denise was extrememly knowledgeable about transport times and costs and was a huge help when planning our trip. We thought the food was amazing and never ate anywhere else because we wanted to try as much on the menu as we could. I strongly recommend the Samaran Curry!!! There's a great sunset happy hour so you can watch the sun dip behind the mountains accross the river from the open bar upstairs. All in all, we had a fabulous stay and this is one of my favourite hotels in the world!!! The only down side is that there's no pool but when you're in Kampot there's so much beautiful countryside to see and wonderful people to meet you really don't have time for a dip. I will definitely stay there again and recommend to everyone. Fabulous!!!

I did not think I could add anything to the previous reviews of Riki Tiki Tavi. Still the most amazing place to stay, still the best food and service, still the best managed, they still look after their staff better than anyone else I know in Cambodia but now there is more - a new room with 2 rooms. Huge bathroom, 2 double beds in separate rooms, courtyard, quiet and just perfect in every way, We expect nothing less from Riki Tiki and they always deliver.
Love you work.

Room Tip: There are only good rooms. Ask for one of the new rooms and you get a slightly different bathroom.

I endorse the comments of previous contributors. We were recommended Rikitikitavi by friends and were very glad that we chose this place - easily the nicest in terms of facilities and location than any other hotels we say in Kampot. The bar and restaurant were top class - we didn't bother going anywhere else. The children loved being able to choose from a vast library of DVD's which meant quiet cocktails for mum and dad! Although this hotel is a gem we were not so impressed by the town and surrounding areas. The sunset boat trip along the river was nice (and worth doing if you are in town for a day or so) but the day trip in the Bokor national park was bizarre. I was expecting a brisk walk, fresh air and some interesting scenery but instead was taken to a series of construction sites - the old (20th century) summer 'palace' was in ruin and everything strewn with litter, a large and brightly painted Buddha has been built near a huge, shiny casino, rows of worker huts and machinery plants were visible everywhere and at the end of the tour I finally saw why - there are ambitious plans to build an enormous new city right in the heart of the national park. I can see why the local economy might welcome such development but the environmental costs are going to be massive.

Room Tip: There are only a few rooms and only one family room so book early

We stayed for a week in February. Most things have been said in previous reviews, but it is a very good choice in an excellent position.
I think the food must be the best in the area and the cocktails are the real McCoy, so enjoy the Happy Hour. The view of the river from the bar/restaurant can't be beaten.
Dom and Denise are excellent hosts, even when Dom was suffering the effects of dengue fever. One of them was usually around and very helpful. When I asked Dom where I could get a watch battery, he despatched one of the staff to the market and 20 mins later, there was a knock on my door and there was one of the boys with my battery. That's service for you.
The rooms are pleasant and everything works. My room was looking a bit tired, but Denise told me it was the oldest room. There seems to be plans for a bit of a revamp. The rates are very good.
If you are a light sleeper, don't have room 2 as it's right by the stairs and the security gates which are scraped across at midnight and 6.30am. It wasn't a problem for me, but it might be for others.
A 2 hour boat trip goes up the river everyday at 4.00pm from opposite the hotel at a cost of $5 and is a very pleasant trip.
If you want to spend a few hours by a pool, a $2 tuk tuk ride to the Villa Vedici is a good idea.. It's on the river and for $3 you get a towel and a sunlounger by the pool. It's small and quiet and there's a bar which serves food. As we were in Kampot for a week, it was a different and pleasant few hours.
There are several day trips around the area, which I will put on the Kampot forum asap. Check around for prices.
You can't go wrong with the Rikitikitavi, we loved it.

All the other positive reviews are right and I cannot add anymore other than the staff are all wonderful and without doubt make this place the success it is. Pat, who people skills are top class would not be out of place running the show at a 5 star hotel anywhere in the world. The owners need to sign him to a long contract before he is poached to work in London! A special mention also to the bar staff who make the best mojito cocktails ( a $2 dollar bargain during happy hour ) we have ever had on our travels in SE Asia. Without doubt one of the hotel highlights of recent trip

We stayed here for two nights towards the end of our holiday. We had an amazingly spacious room at the back of the premises. All the staff were incredibly helpful and were a credit to the owners. There was a vast selection to choose from on the breakfast menu, which was included in the price. Rikitikitavi represented excellent value for money.

Room Tip: We had room 6, right at the back of the complex

A great place to stay, to drink a wine at Sunset and since you are there you can enjoy a nice diner.
Those qualities combined with a very tasteful international music choice and good English speaking staff to help and advice you on all you need. That and much more makes you very much at home at Rikitikitavi all for a fair price.
The management Denise (Dutch) and Dom (UK) are always around for the answers to all your questions.
