“Great to relax in need of repair”
Reviewed 19 November 2013 via mobile

We've been to kep a number of times and always known Veranda as the best place to stay but usually took the simpler options nearby. This time we decided to splurge of the villas at veranda.

The view is wonderful. The food is fantastic. The location is quiet and peaceful.

All that cannot be denied, but the place just needs some maintenance and the staff a pep talk.

The pool for example, is large and clean and crystal clear but tiles are falling off everywhere and we kept cutting our feet on loose tiles. Our air conditioning failed and it took four reminders to the to get it solved. And the staff were very welcoming but rarely followed through.

We will undoubtedly return, as its tranquillity is themain attraction, but will likely not splurge and just take the poolside rooms.

We stayed at the Veranda in Kep for 4 nights. My wife and I, our 2 kids (3 and 1) and my mother in law. We rented the suite family retreat (at the top of the resort). We loved it. The rooms were spacious and quiet, the terrace ideal for the kids to run around. The staff were adorable, the food was great and the breakfast buffet was plentiful. The swimming pool is superb and the kids club, hosted by Lulu, kept our 3 year old out of trouble for hours on end! He couldn't stay away.
Thanks to all and we'll be back in 2014!

We stayed at the Verandah for 3 nights in October 2013 and really enjoyed it. The hotel is up on the hillside near the entrance to Kep National Park and its construction felt in keeping with its natural surrounds. We stayed in the Stone Cottage, which is a very spacious room with two private verandahs and a big bathroom. Great bathroom BTW. I think privacy was taken into consideration when designing the resort because it was quiet and our room didn't overlook any other. In fact, we were often surprised when we saw people at breakfast it was so quiet.
Speaking of breakfast, the Verandah offers a fabulous buffet breakfast with a mix of Khmer and Western dishes. Try the Nom Kruk (spelling) it was my favourite.
The dining room is located on a large verandah with a fabulous view over Kep and out to sea, and is a perfect spot to watch the sunset. Have a cocktail while you watch too; I thought the dry martins were good.
A bakery on site makes some lovely breads and sweets, some of which are on offer at breakfast, but others you may like to try either in the dining room, or upstairs in the comfy cafe area with a book.
The pool and pool area is very nice and we noticed there's an activity centre for children. You can order drinks and food at the pool bar ( sandwiches are good, but you'll only need one for two people :-)
Staff at the Verandah were professional and friendly and the service they provided was very good. Thanks for a happy stay everyone!

This place has a tree house feel with lovely views and a unique set of building connected by timber walkways and winding passages. Our room was spacious but I don't like the low bed and open shower/toilet near the bed. Great veranda to sit and read. Restaurant buffet breakfast a huge selection. Food was good but not great.

Spent two nights here, wonderful, secluded, rainforest at the door. Wonderful place to stay and relax. Only issue was dinner in the restaurant two dishes where a little salty and the chicken in the one was a bit tough, great breakfast though. Would happily have stayed for longer. Great overall experience, friendly staff, great service. Thoroughly recommend it.

Room Tip: The bungalow rooms are wonderful and accessed by raised wooden walkways.

Kep was my favourite location on our travels around Cambodia, partly to do with staying here at the Veranda but sadly only for two nights.

Arrived on the Monday after the holidays and Barbara (the lovely lady from Hamburg) said that we'd missed the crush from the weekend so it was lovely and quiet with only a few rooms occupied. Our original hillside bungalow was having electricity problems so we were upgraded to the relatively new Stone Villa. WOW! It was beautiful, big and comfortable. A nice balcony with a fan and lights, an ocean view and comfy chairs. The bathroom is gorgeous and the shower lovely. My only issue with the room was the lack of in room safety deposit box - I think they could provide these for peoples' own sense of security really.

Breakfast was outstanding with such a wide selection from Western to Cambodian feasts and eggs cooked to order. The views from the restaurant are among some of the best in the area.

The pool was a fantastic asset however could use a little work on its floor as I nicked my feet a couple of times on loose mosaic tiles (just a minor baddie though).

Barbara had lots of information on the local area and arranged moto-scooters for us very quickly.

The Veranda is right in front of the entrance to Kep National Park so is a little walk uphill from the crab market - only tuk tuks with proper motorbikes seem to be able to make it up there and there aren't many around at night so might be best securing one earlier to wait for you if dining out, but the walk back is lovely anyway.

We did NOT want to leave.

Room Tip: We were upgraded to the Stone Villa which was wonderful and quiet with a Gulf of Thailand and sunset...

Wow! If you are looking for a quiet secluded hotel, this is the place! The rooms are all situated on stilts among the trees and are linked to one another and the pool and restaurant via wooden walkways. It is like staying in a tree hut! we really enjoyed the quiet here. Yes there were some families and kids in the pool area, but this wasnt a problem. The pool was a lovely setting, surrounded by trees, and a bar/restaurant attached for food and drink. (try the passionfuit mint smoothie!) When in our room you could not see any other room, or people, just the trees and part of the ocean. Staff were friendly and helpful, our internet broke and was fixed with a new router that same afternoon. Breakfasts were good, with a wide range and a gorgeous view. We ate lunch once at Veranda, but also chose to eat at some other places in town - Trei and Holy Crab were our favourites down at the crab market, and we enjoyed the Sailing Club for sunset drinks, food at the sailing club is good if you need something western and a break from crab and seafood. We would recommend this place as a unique and quiet place to stay and relax.

Room Tip: We stayed in B4, which was wonderful, we had a large room and a grogeous private balcony to relax on
