“Back of beyond but front of the queue as the place to stay”
Reviewed 2 March 2014

We went to the Bout at the end of a trip round Cambodia thanks to a friend's recommendation. We stayed 3 nights but wished it was longer. After a hectic tour around this was the perfect place to unwind. The hotel itself is great, but what really made it for us was the fantastic team of people who made our stay so easy going and friendly, and the food. We dined in the first night and it was so good we never ate anywhere else. We'll be going back.

Most previous reviews have commented very accurately, we only spent one night here, $100 in a khmer suite, a fantastic room, with a treehouse feel. we had lunch at the kep crab markets and dinner at Le Bout du Monde, our food was faultless, I fully appreciate why they no longer serve local crabs on the menu, they have been so overfished that they are now very undersized.
Breakfast was included but not really of the standard one would expect for a $100 a night establishment. I would recommend staying here , bring a book and go for a walk in the National Park adjacent to the hotel.( the only place around with no rubbish).

Room Tip: take a late afternoon stroll around the national park loop, It is very shady so you can leave at 4 a...

Thank you for your stay with us and review although it is difficult to be complete by having stayed only one night.
We have made the breakfast menu on the experience of 7 years of management.
We based on the appetite of the majority of our guests because we are opposed to all forms of waste that would result in throwing food in the trash. For my part, I do not understand the parallel between the price of the room and the amount of food served at breakfast. What would other customers think if we make a difference depending on the price of the room? i you have a strong appetite, it is quite possible to order meals listed on our menu.

This was our second stay at Le Bout du Monde in 5-6 years so we knew what to expect. This time we stayed for 6 nights. The villas are simple and set in beautiful gardens. The atmosphere is relaxed and quiet. The pool is a lovely addition, especially nice for a swim at night. It's been cleverly designed so that the villas don't overlook it, giving a sense of privacy. The room was clean and the balcony was wonderfully relaxing and private.

The staff are warm and friendly. Breakfast was very tasty and generous. We ate mostly at the crab market and only had one meal at Le Bout du Monde at the end of our stay. The meal was fantastic and we wished we'd eaten there more often (we did eat at Le Bout du Monde every night the first time we stayed there). Some reviewers have said the Veranda resort over the road has better food but we disagree. While it's a lovely place for a drink, we found the food at the Veranda to be pretty average and inferior to Le Bout du Monde.

Our only suggestion for improvement would be to get new mattresses. We found them to be a bit uncomfortable after the second night.

This was a wonderful surprise! I arrived in Kep to find another guesthouse I'd booked on Booking.com had put me in an ugly room & not the room I saw online. So I immediately relented, paid the extra $ for Le Bout du Monde, and was absolutely thrilled that I did. For Cambodia $60 is on the high side, but you are getting a 24 hour eco pool (think night swim under the stars), a lovely restaurant with magnificent views, an outstanding location, and lots of security.

My only regret was that I was traveling alone -- this is a very romantic spot & I hope to return with my husband.

Le Bout du Monde is a beautiful hotel in a relaxed tropical environment. The staff are very friendly. The setting and the incredibly romantic accommodation made a timely break for us from our other travels in Cambodia. If you are going to Kep I would highly recommend it. The restaurant food is very simple. Possibly too simple? But the view from the restaurant well and truly makes up for that.

Are you sure to have come to our hotel ?
I have just checked on the planning : we had no guest from Barcelona in February.
True connoisseurs know that our restaurant offers a quality equal to the best restaurants in France because of the skills of our chef

What a welcome retreat after a 4 hour tuk tuk dusty ride! Tree houses with fabulous views are painstakingly decorated in a rustic manner. Sunsets to die for, a great restaurant and a lovely pool to relax by. The owners were charming and warm and the staff friendly and happy to please . A short stroll to famous Crab Market and then to beach makes this property easily accessible to main sights of Kep, although the huge balconies built for relaxing on each house makes it difficult to want to leave our little slice of paradise

This ecolodge near the top of a hill and backing onto the kep national forest was gobsmacking. The traditional kymer buildings were stunning, the architecture amazing. Watching the sun go down over the gulf of Thailand from my balcony rates as one of the highlights of my travels. The restaurant was well worth eating in one night and breakfasts were good. You could walk out the back door to the national park and down the hill to the crab markets and restaurants. The pool was beautiful. This place is not for everyone however. Steep pathways and stairs could be a problem for some and if you're at all precious about high pressure hot water and squeamish about geckos in your room then go elsewhere. If not then you're in for a treat! Perhaps a slightly softer bed would be my only suggestion. The service was brilliant also, including the booking of a fishing trip for us which was interesting though not successful.
